System One Engineering Capital Projects Manager in York, Pennsylvania

Our client is looking for a talented and experienced Engineering Project Manager to lead and oversee exciting capital projects that revolutionize the food packaging industry. This is a direct hire position in East York, PA

Project Manager Job Objective:

The Project Manager will manage large-scale capital projects to successful completion from initiation through delivery and commissioning/closure. In this role, the PM will coordinate with third parties to complete distinct projects both on time and within budget.

Project Manager Roles and Responsibilities:

  • Creates project charter and leads project execution aligned with agreed project parameters.

  • Reviews contract requirements and ensures adherence both internal and by third-party contractors.

  • Creates and maintains a project schedule aligned with standard business practices and manages the tasks through completion. Ensures all parties are aware of their assigned tasks and drives task completion in line with the plan.

  • Collaborates on the project scope, aligning the project solutions and deliverables with customer needs, maintaining the project course in line with the scope, or capturing change. Ensures the full scope of the project is delivered to include the physical system as well as approval drawings, manuals, and other required documentation.

  • Establishes a realistic project budget, tracks progress towards the plan, and actively maintains target business margins.

  • Identifies risks, assumptions, dependencies, issues, and opportunities (RADIO) on the project to proactively mitigate, capture, or resolve problems ensuring project success.

  • Sources quotations for third-party equipment, coordinates review of specifications, releases vendor orders, collaborates with procurement team, and maintains communications with supplier project managers to ensure receipt of equipment in line with scope, schedule, and budget requirements. Participates in Factory Acceptance Testing (FAT) as necessary remotely or in-person at vendor sites.

  • Prepares project documentation (scope, schedule, budget, charter, risks) and briefings to effectively communicate with project stakeholders internally and externally and allow for seamless project management coverage.

  • Ensure deliverables (equipment and other work products) meet all applicable sanitary, safety, and quality requirements.

  • Organizes and facilitates customer meetings and serves as primary liaison between all parties.

  • Facilitates identification and coordinates resolution to any problems that may arise on the project – whether related to the project or technical execution.

  • Travels to site and manages installation and commissioning of large systems by coordinating installation activity, punch lists, internal resources, contractor resources, material delivery, daily status, and customer communications.

  • Strives for continuous improvement by providing feedback on, developing, and improving operating procedures based on project experiences.

  • Attend trade shows, seminars, and read trade publications to stay current with technology associated with their products, systems, and services.

  • Aids in training and mentoring new hires and Associate Project Managers to build up the overall team capability.

  • Represents the Company in a highly professional manner at all times.

  • Performs other duties as assigned to meet the goals and objectives of the department and organization.

    Project Manager Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Engineering or related field or commensurate experience

  • 2+ Years of Direct Industry Related Project Management Experience or 4+ Years of General Project Management Experience

  • Project Management Institute (PMI) based project management principles knowledge; PMI Certification preferred

  • Willing to learn and take on additional assignments

  • Demonstrates strong ethical behaviors and judgment

  • Proficient in MS Office with capability to learn Project Software such as Microsoft Project

  • Working knowledge of project management tools and methodologies

  • Demonstrated outstanding written and verbal communication

  • Excellent organizational and leadership skills

  • Ability to build rapport and interact effectively with personnel at all levels within the company as well as customers, vendors, and business partners

  • Ability to travel up to 25% to support business activities

  • Must be eligible to work in the US without sponsorship
