Reporting to the Director of Product Management, Bonded and Superabrasives, the Manager of Product Design Engineering is the leader of a fast paced, service-oriented team that provides newly designed abrasive products and solutions for the manufacturing plant and its various external customers.- This position is focused on managing a team of design engineers and specialists that design, build, and quote Super abrasive products out of the Worcester location for the various abrasive products manufactured directed towards tool room, electronics, gear, aerospace, medical, automotive, and other grinding applications/markets.

What you will be doing in this role:

• Manage a team of design engineers and specialists that design, build, maintain and quote Super abrasive products.

• Establish yearly team Key Performance Indicators (KPIs) and support successful meeting of goals and objectives while adhering to all health and safety standards and requirements.

• Define and implement projects related to design process improvement.- Of which includes but not limited to continued documentation and programming of design rules for faster and more accurate part creation and quotation using appropriate software and process optimization techniques.-

• Collaboration with manufacturing, product management, and sales teams to create new engineering designs and design changes to various abrasive products.- Occasional communications with customers may be required.

• Ensure that teams’ product designs maximize performance through most favorable use of the manufacturing processes, while minimizing manufacturing costs without sacrificing product’s effectiveness.-

• Oversee/facilitate communication between affiliates and plant for design and delivery requirements for portions of the business.

• Support manufacturing in trouble shooting problems that are design related and provide technical guidance as needed.

What you should bring to this role:

• Bachelor’s Degree in a relevant technical field – engineering preferred required (AND) 5 or more years of experience in abrasive technologies, product design, (OR) an equivalent combination of skills and experience-

• Strong leadership skills and the ability to manage/lead a technical team.

• Familiarity with SAP ERP software and AION Business Rules Expert or similar programming knowledge is a plus

• Strong analytical skills and the ability to communicate and influence all levels of our customers’ and our own organization are critical.

• Must be skilled in Engineering Design and Drafting techniques and familiarity with CAD. AutoDesk CAD software, specifically AutoCad Mechanical and Inventor a plus

• Excellent oral and written communication skills

• Excellent computer skills, Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, PowerPoint).

• Must possess leadership skills and change management skills, and adaptability to take on increasing responsibility is highly desirable.

• Able to make independent decisions as well as operate in a team environment.

• Prior experience in product application, manufacturing or development, and a strong mechanical aptitude desirable
