What does the role look like?

As a Software Engineer, you will design, develop, investigate, research, and implement innovative software solutions for actuation systems products and processes in collaboration with various engineering functions. Reporting to the Functional Engineering Manager within the Global Defence Systems Engineering team, you will engage in a technically challenging role that requires a curious mindset, continuous learning, and effective cross-functional communication. Your responsibilities will include enhancing software performance, troubleshooting complex issues, and staying abreast of industry trends, contributing to the development of cutting-edge technologies in a dynamic and collaborative environment.

What will your day-to-day responsibilities look like?

  • Create Software and Firmware Specifications: Develop detailed software and firmware specifications for actuation systems, ensuring alignment with project requirements and industry standards.

  • Develop Model-Based Systems Engineering Solutions: Partner with the systems engineering function to design and implement software solutions that support model-based systems engineering (MBSE).

  • Automate Engineering Processes: Create software automation tools to streamline and enhance various engineering processes, improving efficiency and accuracy.

  • Research and Implement Machine Learning Solutions: Investigate and integrate machine learning technologies into products and processes, enhancing capabilities and performance.

  • Support Digital Thread Initiatives: Contribute to the development and maintenance of digital thread initiatives, ensuring seamless data integration and traceability across the business.

  • Support Digital Twin Initiatives: Assist in the creation and implementation of digital twin models within engineering, enabling advanced simulation and analysis capabilities.

  • Develop Automation Software for Test Equipment: Design and develop automation software for development and test equipment, ensuring robust and reliable operation during testing phases.

What will you bring to the role?

We are seeking candidates with a background in software or electrical engineering who possess the following attributes:

  • Knowledge of Software Specifications: Familiarity with creating and interpreting detailed software specifications.
