Robert Half Payroll Specialist in Windsor, Connecticut

Description

We are searching for a meticulous Payroll Specialist to join our finance team in Hartford, Connecticut. This role is integral to ensuring the accurate processing of our company's payroll operations, using specialized accounting software systems. You will be entrusted with a variety of tasks that include managing our payroll system, reconciling payroll data, and handling HR administration duties.

Responsibilities:

• Manage and oversee the daily operations of our payroll system

• Use accounting software systems such as ADP - Financial Services, Ceridian, and IBM AS/400 for payroll processing

• Ensure accurate and timely processing of payroll updates including new hires, terminations, and changes to pay rates

• Prepare and submit reports with payroll information to supervisor

• Reconcile payroll data and rectify any discrepancies

• Handle HR administration duties in liaison with the human resources department

• Maintain confidentiality of payroll operations and ensure data integrity

• Stay updated with the regulatory laws in payroll process and taxation

• Perform payroll accounting tasks including the reconciliation of payroll to the general ledger

• Assist in audits and provide recommendations for procedural improvements

Requirements • Proven experience as a Payroll Specialist or in a similar role within finance or accounting.

• Proficiency in using Ceridian payroll system is required.

• Familiarity with IBM AS/400 system is essential.

• Strong knowledge of accounting functions and principles.

• Experience in Human Resources (HR) administration is a plus.

• Excellent mathematical and computational skills.

• Strong attention to detail and ability to maintain high levels of accuracy.

• Knowledge of relevant local, state, and federal payroll and tax regulations.

• Ability to handle confidential information with discretion and professionalism.

• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.

• Ability to work independently and as part of a team.

• Strong organizational and time management skills, ability to meet deadlines.

• Bachelor's degree in accounting, finance, or a related field is preferred.
