Town Of Windsor Facilities Maintenance Technician in Windsor, Colorado

Description Hiring Range: $22.76-$24.76 hourly

Work Schedule: Generally, works up to 40 hours per week

NATURE OF WORK

As a member of the Parks, Recreation & Culture, individuals in this position perform routine installation, repair, and maintenance of plumbing, mechanical, electrical, painting, carpet and flooring, construction, and exterior maintenance. Assists with general custodial duties, and special requests for set-up and tear-down as assigned. This position operates various types of building systems, machinery, and tools in a safe, efficient manner to maintain, analyze, repair, and perform semi-skilled and skilled improvement to Town facilities and equipment; and maintains and repairs mechanical and electrical operational systems including, but not limited to heating, air conditioning, ventilation, plumbing, electrical lighting, and distribution.

SUPERVISION RECEIVED

Individuals work under the direct supervision of the Facilities Supervisor to carry out assigned duties, functions, roles, and projects in both routine and complex circumstances.

Essential Job Functions ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS

The individual in the Facilities Maintenance Technician I role is assigned specific assignments, job duties, scope, authority, responsibility, roles, and requirements as determined by the town, department, and division, and according to laws, regulations, and practices. Individuals in this position must be able to successfully perform, be responsible for, and/or assist in the fulfillment of many job functions and duties with or without reasonable accommodations. The following duties and responsibilities are illustrative of the primary functions of this position and are not intended to be all-inclusive: Performs a wide variety of general construction, maintenance, and repairs on buildings and facilities, for upkeep, and preservation Assists in inspections of all town facilities to insure a safe environment for users and compliance with insurance standards and Fire Safety Codes Maintains and repairs small equipment as needed Appropriately assesses and reports maintenance issues and prioritizes projects. Detects and reports defective or destroyed materials, items that need maintenance or fixing, or questionable conditions to the division/department supervisor. Completes start-up and shutdown of systems operations at municipal pool and park restrooms each season. Assesses and assures refuse areas are clean and organized. Maintains and performs safety inspection of assigned vehicle Researches tools and equipment needs and gathers price quotes for parts and equipment Escorts contractors as requested by the manager Maintains personal work space and equipment in a clean and orderly condition Performs related duties as established by law/ordinance or reasonably directed by the town Completes work orders and performs routine construction, maintenance, repairs, remodeling, and preventative maintenance to all town buildings and equipment Performs basic maintenance such as changing filters, replacing light bulbs, unclogging toilets, replacing switches and electrical outlets, repairing floors and walls, painting, and exterior maintenance Completes and submits reports, work orders, and supply requests accurately and timely Uses discretion with sensitive information Works independently without supervision in the normal course of duties Performs all work duties and activities per town policies and procedures Assists outside vendors and contractors Ensures that town facilities are safe and free from hazards for staff, citizens, and visitors Responds to staff, customers, citizens, and contractors in a positive and respectful manner Assists in completing unexpected and/or urgent projects re uested by department/division staff or management Assists building maintenance staff with custodial duties and special set-up and tear-down as assigned Establishes and monitors priorities and meets deadlines

Education, Knowledge, Skills, Abilities EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE AND FORMAL TRAINING

Must be at least 18 years old One (1) year of previous experience (commercial building, HVAC, plumbing, and/or electrical such as construction, facility, or building mainten Electrical experience and/or licensing preferred Any equivalent combination of training, experience, and education that provides evidence the candidate possesses the necessary knowledge, skills, and abilities to perform the essential functions of the job LICENSES OR CERTIFICATES Must have a current Colorado Driver s License or the ability to obtain one upon hire, that meets the Town of Windsor s standards May possess HVAC, Electrical, or similar certification KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES Basic knowledge of principles and practices of facility maintenance and safety practices Knowledge of town and department/division policies and procedures
