Responsibilites of the Medical Staff Coordinator include:

The Medical Staff Coordinator will have knowledge of health care systems and credentialing practices. Provides administrative support to the Medical Staff, conducts provider orientation, education on policy and procedures as well as Medical Staff Bylaws. Records minutes of multiple meetings including Credentials Committee, Medical Executive Committee and others as assigned.

Receives, screens, and routes visitors and telephone calls. Responds to, escalates, and follows up on inquiries and problems as appropriate.

Schedules/coordinates meetings, conferences, special events, appointments and travel arrangements.

Maintains Emergency Department Call schedule monthly

Maintains files and office equipment.

Orders and stocks supplies.

Maintain Practitioner Database

Organize Continuing Medical Education Opportunities upon request

Maintain working knowledge regulatory standards and requirements related to Medical Staff Credentialing.

Must be able to arrive early to set up for monthly or quarterly meetings and work evenings at a minimum of 5 times per year for General Medical Staff events.

Schedule:

Monday- Friday, 8a-5p

Required SkillsRequires critical thinking skills, decisive judgment and the ability to work with minimal supervision. Some autonomous decision making is involved regarding medical staff credentialing process. Gathers information, reviews and forwards to Credentials Committee complete applications. Able to independently review and escalate issues involving credentialing/privileging to Director. Must be able to work in a stressful environment and take appropriate action.
