As a Respiratory Therapist, you will verify all physician orders for respiratory care and provide age and developmentally appropriate care to infants, children, adolescents, and adults. You will assess patients clinically and evaluate the appropriateness of therapy, providing a wide range of respiratory care services.
Responsibilities
Verify all physician orders for respiratory care.
Provide age and developmentally appropriate care to infants, children, adolescents, and adults.
Assess patients clinically and evaluate for appropriateness of therapy.
Administer aerosolized medication therapy.
Provide airway clearance therapies, airway management such as trach changes, tube taping, suctioning, and medical gas therapy.
Set up and manage ventilators.
Perform non-invasive monitoring, including pulse oximetry, transcutaneous O2/CO2, and end-tidal CO2 monitoring.
Assist with in-house and inter-facility transports.
Provide emergency respiratory care, including airway management and cardiopulmonary resuscitation.
Perform arterial blood gas sampling, point of care testing, and electrocardiograms.
Participate in airway management during bronchoscopies.
Document care provided, patient assessments, and patient care orders in the electronic medical record (EMR) or hard copy when necessary.
Enter charges accurately.
Assist in discharge planning and home-care education by training patients, their families, and designated care providers.
Provide recommendations and education to physicians and nurses regarding respiratory care.
Participate in the evaluation of respiratory care equipment and procedures and maintain current knowledge about departmental policies and procedures.
Essential Skills
Graduated from a COAARC Approved Respiratory Care Program.
DE State License, NBRC-RRT, and BLS-HCP certification required.
Pediatric experience.
Proficiency with electronic medical records (EMR).
Strong clinical assessment skills.
Additional Skills & Qualifications
AARC membership.
PALS certification within 90 days of hire.
Preferred certifications: NRP, NBRC-NPS, NBRC-CPFT, NBRC-RPFT, NBRC-SDS, AEC, and ACLS.
Work Environment
Work hours are from 7pm to 7am. The Respiratory Therapist department is one of 18 acute care hospitals in the US and one of 5 children's hospitals. The work environment involves providing care in a premier pediatric health system.
Pay and Benefits
The pay range for this position is $75920.00 - $108160.00/yr.
Paid Time Off: Six paid holidays annually and one day of paid volunteer time off.Paid Parental Leave: Six weeks of paid leave for new parents at 100% pay.Tuition Reimbursement: Up to $5,250 for approved courses.Retirement Savings Plan: 403(b) plan with immediate participation and matching contributions; 457(b) program for highly compensated associates.Insurance: Basic Life and AD&D Disability Coverage: Short- and long-term disability coverage at 60% of salary for non-work-related disabilities.
