Essential Functions & Responsibilities:
Contribute to and support the field accounting team dedicated to the Asplundh Infrastructure Group (AIG) segment. This team consists of Field Accounting personnel based in the Home Office, which are supported by a network of Operations Controllers deployed throughout the AIG businesses. Collectively, this structure serves as the primary “bridge” between the Company’s corporate function and field operations for the Finance function (accounting and FP&A), supporting ongoing accounting, reporting and analysis needs as well as discrete field-related project deployment and process & technology enhancements.
Execute field accounting activities related to the month-end financial close and reporting processes, doing so timely, accurately and at a high-level of quality.
Identify and communicate insights regarding AIG businesses’ decentralized field operations and financial results.
As needed, support key project initiatives focused on streamlining/systematizing the gathering of production data to support accurate and timely accruals (e.g. Project Connect).
Identify, communicate and realize financial close efficiencies to drive the organization to a faster and more streamlined, accurate financial close process.
Responsible for creating the monthly earned revenue adjustment entry, including preparing results and variance reporting for manager review
Responsible for booking more complex journal entries prepared internally or received from field
Handle other responsibilities, as needed, such as project/system implementation support, both within the corporate function as well as field operations.
Requirements:
BS in Accounting (or similar degree) and CPA preferred, but not required
At least 2-4 years of field/project accounting and operations experience (with ever increasing responsibilities), preferably within the infrastructure/construction industries.
Preferred - Experience working directly with highly decentralized field operations that span a wide variety of business lines.
Good written and verbal communication skills.
Teachable attitude / willingness to learn.
Ability to contribute creatively to a vision of “what could be”, not just focused on “what is/has been”
Ability to execute tasks within a project plan on time and at a high-level of quality
Experience using modern ERP’s such as SAP or Oracle is preferred
Good social skills in dealing with internal personnel, auditors, etc.
