UPMC Echo Technologist - Casual in Williamsport, Pennsylvania

Casual/PRN Echo Technologist

Hours: Typically between 6:30 a.m. and 5:00 p.m. Rotating weekends, holidays, or on-call shifts may be required based on departmental needs.

Certification: RDCS or RCS is required.

Role Overview:

Join our dynamic team as a Casual Echo Technologist, where you'll perform a variety of ultrasonic (echocardiographic) evaluations of the heart for diagnostic purposes. Your expertise will contribute to comprehensive patient care through various specialized tests, including Complete Echocardiographic studies, Enhancement (Definity) Studies, Bubble Echo Studies, Stress Echo, and Transesophageal Echo studies.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Prepare Testing Procedures: Efficiently prepare testing procedures for interpretation by pulling previous reports, documenting measurements and findings on technician worksheets, presenting OP written orders, and logging appropriate information.

  • Data Entry: Accurately enter patient demographics and information using the modality work list on Echo machines or manually in the Syngo and MUSE systems.

  • Equipment Maintenance: Maintain equipment by cleaning and stocking machines daily, and alerting appropriate personnel of needed repairs and supplies.

  • Perform Cardiac Ultrasound Procedures: Execute cardiac ultrasound procedures according to guidelines established by the Medical Director, including M-Mode, 2D, Doppler, Color flow Doppler, Transesophageal Echocardiography, Echo Enhancement, Bubble studies, and Stress Echocardiography.

  • Billing: Complete billing for all Echo procedures performed using the Hospital's eRecord system and hospital computers by the end of your shift.

Completion of an accredited sonographer program with registration or registration eligibility. Ability to work flexible hours and days of the week to include weekends and holidays. Taking call as scheduled.

Licensure, Certifications, and Clearances:

Registered Diagnostic Cardiac Sonographer (RDCS) preferred.

  • Basic Life Support (BLS) OR Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR)

  • Act 34
