Job Summary

* Joining Incentive for Qualified Candidates - Apply today to learn more* Responsible for all aspects of Radiology nursing; including assessment, evaluation, and coordination of nursing care. The Registered Nurse is responsible for performing patient assessment, patient and family teaching and triage. Provides primary clinical support to the provider and patient to assist in the diagnosis and treatment of the patient's condition. Follows up on diagnostic testing to ensure completion, accuracy, and filing in the electronic medical record to ensure continuity and care.

Job Duties

  • Provides nursing care in Radiology as they relate to patient care, imaging and interventional procedures.

  • Administers medications and treatments according to policy and procedure.

  • Assesses patient responses to medications and testing per protocols and document information in medical record.

  • Assures all necessary paperwork and information is present for procedures.

  • Prepares patients for procedures, including reviewing history and medication list, etc.

  • Assesses patients’ physical status as well as their understanding of the procedure.

  • Provides patient and family education.

  • Evaluates effectiveness of nursing interventions and revises care based upon patient response to interventions.

  • Provides Basic Life Support and Advanced Cardiac Life Support.

  • Performs emergency procedures when necessary; transports equipment to patient’s bedside when necessary.

  • Starts and regulates oxygen.

  • Assists with patient transport as required.

  • Assists with therapies including assessing vitals and administering medications.

  • Assists with orientation of personnel and students.

  • Responsible for assessment of lab results prior to procedures.

  • Assist throughout the radiology department with nursing needs.

Position Details

New to radiology, we're willing to train!

Hiring incentive: $10,000 sign-on bonus paid over 2 years. Certain stipulations do apply

  • Hours: Rotation of start times between 6:30A and 8:30A

  • Shifts are 8 hours in length

  • On-call rotation - will be fully reviewed in interview. 30-Minute Call Time

  • Limited travel to cover Geisinger South Wilkes Barre clinic

  • Union: Yes

  • BLS, ASLS, PALS and certification for moderate sedation will need to be obtained once hired if you presently do not have them

  • Some of the most common procedures:

  • Port a cath insertion

  • Cryo-ablation

  • Microwave ablation

  • Chemo embolization

  • G-tube insertion /placement/ exchange

  • Kyphoplasty

Education

Graduate from Specialty Training Program-Nursing (Required), Bachelor's Degree-Nursing (Preferred)

Experience

Minimum of 1 year-Nursing (Required)

Certification(s) and License(s)

Basic Life Support Certification - Default Issuing Body; Pediatric Advanced Life Support Certification - American Heart Association (AHA); Advanced Cardiac Life Support Certification - American Heart Association (AHA); Licensed Registered Nurse (Pennsylvania) - RN_State of Pennsylvania
