UPMC Children's Community Pediatrics is hiring a Full-Time Payment Applications Specialist II to support the office in Wexford.

Prior pediatric office experience strongly preferred.

Purpose:

Responsible for the posting and balancing of payment and adjustment transactions including electronic processes. Responsible for posting denials, patient and insurance refunds.

Responsibilities:

  • Adhere to Human Resource policies and procedures.

  • Responsible for entering self-pay, insurance, and manual exception payments into the Epic billing system.

  • Perform batch audits.

  • Review manually posted payments and adjustments for accuracy.

  • Responsible for entering payments/non-payment denials into the Epic billing system.

  • Responsible for meeting departmental goals on a daily basis.

  • Process third-party reimbursements with guidelines set forth in the department. Initiate the refund process to ensure timely return of misdirected revenue.

  • Provide back up support for other staff members who perform various departmental functions.

  • Process reimbursements to multiple billing systems and automated systems as required.

  • 3 years experience in a physician office or hospital business unit preferred.

  • Must have experience in business functions such as registration, billing, payment posting and collections.

  • Must have experience with medical terminology and reimbursement practices.

  • Microsoft Word and Excel (or an equivalent package) and various office equipment.

  • Must demonstrate strong interpersonal and communications skills.

  • Must be able to work independently and as a team member. Must be able to meet departmental quotas on an ongoing basis.

  • High school diploma or GED with three years experience is required.

  • Bachelor's Degree in Healthcare or business field is preferred. Licensure, Certifications, and Clearances:

  • Act 34 with renewal
