Sulzer Pump Solutions Ireland Ltd. is part of our Water & Industry Business Unit which aspires to develop - among others - products and solutions that support water recycling and Industry in a sustainable energy efficient way. Sulzer technologies are at the core of critical infrastructure and processes globally and our solutions are crucially enabling essential industries around the world to reduce emissions, reuse resources and recycle materials As Materials Manager you will play a key role in Sulzers Supply Chain ensuring smooth operations and sustainable efficient productivity. You will manage materials to the site and oversee the daily operations of material movements at the facility ensuring optimum use of resources and up to date technology. The job includes working within an existing team in a successful and innovative environment involving both long-term strategic and day-to-day management of the material handling processes at Sulzer. We are looking for an experienced Materials Professional to oversee and coordinate the process and the teams activities, where you will identify the appropriate process & team performance including technology to support production, productivity, and overall customer service standards for the site.

Your main tasks and responsibilities:

  • Develop and execute strategies to optimize materials across the complete value chain.

  • Overseeing and managing the daily operations of the material flow/movements, including receiving, storing, and shipping products and materials while ensuring efficient coordination amongst the wider team.

  • Managing inventory, including maintaining accurate records, coordinating cycle counts and resolving any discrepancies.

  • Effectively plan and allocate resources to meet daily operational requirements, maximizing productivity and minimizing downtime.

  • Lead Materials Tier meetings and play a key role in x-functional tier process as required.

  • Responsible for mentoring and providing regular performance feedback to pool of staff to develop skills and expertise, enabling staff to optimize processes and carry out duties effectively.

  • Leadership responsibilities for staff selection, induction, training, development & appraisals and assigning daily workloads.

  • Manage the materials process to budget with a continuous improvement mindset, consistently seeking out continuous improvement/Kaizen etc. opportunities for process development and implement to deliver efficiencies and improve costs, demonstrated through appropriate Key Performance Indicators

  • Demonstrated problem-solving skills using Lean principals to identify and resolve operational challenges promptly taking appropriate corrective actions.

  • Analytical mindset required to prepare and analyze reports on material movement operations, including productivity, inventory levels, shipping & receiving and providing recommendations and plans for improvements.

To succeed in this role, you will need:

  • Proven organizational change management and leadership skills.

  • Strong communicator with the ability to communicate both internally and externally.

  • Service orientated, self-directed, responsible, and ability to work cross functionally in a matrix environment.

  • Experience in WMS and proficient using relevant software applications.

  • Ability and experience using material movement equipment.

  • Proficient use of ERP database systems -preferably SAP but not essential

  • Proven experience in a continuous improvement & lean environment

  • Six Sigma Greenbelt or Blackbelt and Project Management skills an advantage

  • Ability to prioritize tasks, manage time effectively with strong attention to detail while meeting deadlines.

  • Ability to visualize, create and implement a longer-term Development Plan around people, systems, processes, and technology.

Educational Background Required: Degree/Diploma in Logistics/Supply Chain or relevant 5 years plus in a similar role.
