Naval Education and Training Command HUMAN RESOURCES ASSISTANT (MILITARY) in West Lafayette, Indiana

Summary You will serve as a HUMAN RESOURCES ASSISTANT (MILITARY) in the Naval Service Training Command of NROTC PURDUE UNIV. Responsibilities You will manage the administrative activities of the Naval Reserve Officers’ Training Corps (NROTC) Units and Strategic Sealift Midshipman Program (SSMP). You will serve as the primary conduit for maintaining program continuity for all NROTC program requirements. You will provide senior officers and staff members training on multiple program requirements and processes. You will plan, develop and implement procedures for administrative data collection and advises Unit staff on correct procedures. You will compose or type a variety of Naval and business letters, memoranda, directives, statistical and narrative reports, endorsement, messages and forms, utilizing a computer, as appropriate. You will prepare all administrative requirements for commissioning, including Oath of Office, service records, home of record, and commissioning packages. Requirements Conditions of Employment Qualifications Qualifications for GS-06 Your resume must demonstrate at least one year of specialized experience at or equivalent to the GS-05 grade level or pay band in the Federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector. Specialized experience must demonstrate the following: (1) Utilizes regulations to develop procedures and methods leading to a commission for NROTC candidates; (2) Maintaining filing systems and reference materials in order to research and prepare a variety of reports and correspondence; (3) Retrieves personnel data to answer questions, respond to correspondence, or for preparing reports or briefings both verbally and in writing, with thorough knowledge of grammar, punctuation, and spelling; and (4) Utilizing automated systems to enter personnel information. Qualifications for GS-05 Your resume must demonstrate at least one year of specialized experience at or equivalent to the GS-04 grade level or pay band in the Federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector. Specialized experience must demonstrate the following: 1) Reviews regulations and procedures leading to a commission for NROTC candidates; 2) Uses personal computer to prepare documents; 3) Uses software programs to extract, revise, or sort data; and 4) Receiving calls, greeting visitors, responding to routine requests for information.
