Platinum Group Metal Services (PGMS) manages, distributes, refines and recycles precious metals and fabricates products using precious metals and related materials. The business unit also manufactures platinum group metals, minor metal compounds, organometallics and fine metal powders for high technology applications, as well as providing a range of management services for platinum group metals.

PGMS has manufacturing operations in the UK, US and China and sells to key markets globally across Europe, the US and Asia.

Job purpose

The Maintenance Planner is responsible for producing, optimising and managing all maintenance work in the facility. This involves coordinating all standard maintenance work orders, preventative maintenance, predictive maintenance, planned outages (turnarounds) and emergency work. The Maintenance Planner will coordinate all work with guidance from the Maintenance Manager, Maintenance Supervisors, Operations Supervisors/Superintendents, Project Managers and Engineers.

The Maintenance Planner will be the point-of-contact for integration of sitewide planning, focusing on optimal use of maintenance resources and integrating with site production scheduling to minimize downtime and impact of site KPI’s.

Principal accountabilities and key duties

  • Work with site resources to ensure safe maintenance operations through proper planning and support of site Environmental, Health and Safety initiatives.

  • Support the Maintenance and Operations teams in the successful planning of maintenance work to minimize downtime and optimize maintenance resources.

  • Ensure proper reporting of schedule compliance and escalation to Maintenance Manager and other key stakeholders of planning breakdowns.

  • Work closely with supply chain, operations and project management in planning maintenance work, especially work requiring shutdown of equipment.

  • Address planning issues that arise and adapt plan as necessary.

  • Support maintenance supervisors in their normal duties when required which may include safe work permit (SWP) approvals, pre-kitting work and work audits.

  • Plan outside contractor work as needed. This is mainly managing service contracts.

  • The preparation and development of effective planning schedule using a mixture of planning software (Project or others), excel, and MP2.

  • The preparation, development and maintenance of effective project reporting tools following established company processes and best practice for variance reporting.

  • Support special projects/initiatives as directed by Maintenance Manager (eg. Spare Parts inventory count)

  • Work closel

  • y with Asset Integrity group to improve maintenance processes.

  • Requirements for the role:

  • High School Diploma/GED or higher-level education

  • Minimum 3 years’ experience working as a planner or scheduler for a manufacturing facility

  • Familiar with Microsoft Project, P6 or Primavera scheduling tools ​

Demonstrated ability to work with mainstream computer applications including Outlook, Word, PowerPoint and Excel etc
