What Are We Hiring For?

Special Education Teachers (emergency certifications available)

Teacher Assistants (52 week year round position)

FT & PT Instructional Support Specialist (52 week year round position)

We will be conducting interviews for 2 of our schools:

Brandywine School (41 week school)

Located in Glenmoore, PA (will be relocating to our main campus in West Chester, PA in September of this year)

You will be working with children with emotional support / behavioral health needs

You will be working with children from 14-19 years old

41 week school

School for Integrated Learning (52 week school)

Located on our main campus in West Chester, PA

You will be working with children with autism / IDD

You will be working with children from 9-14 years old

Minimum Employment Qualifications include:

  • Must be at least 21 years of age

  • High School Diploma / GED (Education requirements vary depending on position)

  • Valid Driver's License required for some positions

  • Education acquired outside of the U.S. requires an approved education evaluation for employment.

Devereux Pennsylvania Children’s Services (DPACS) serves children, adolescents and young adults with autism spectrum disorders, intellectual and developmental disabilities, behavioral, emotional and psychiatric challenges and disorders. Located in West Chester and Malvern Pennsylvania, services provided include psychiatric residential treatment (PRTF), acute inpatient psychiatric hospital (AIP), assessment services, community-based mental health services, community-based employment training and social skills training, and approved private school educational services to male and female children and adolescents (6-21 years of age) with diagnoses of intellectual disabilities, autism spectrum disorders, concomitant psychiatric and behavioral challenges often associated with experiencing some level of trauma in their lives.

Qualifications

High School Diploma or GED required. One (1) year of human service experience working with children, adolescents, and adults preferred.

The IDEAL candidate will... Be empathetic, a team player, have excellent written and verbal communication skills, energetic, creative, understand the theories of behavior management and positive reinforcement, and represent yourself as a positive role model. Additionally, you must be able to complete required new hire orientation class, have a strong passion for working with and helping children and adolescents with special needs and possess a valid license.

Physical Requirements: Significant amounts of walking, sitting, and standing. Some lifting and/or managing resistance required related to applying physical intervention techniques upwards of 75-100 lbs. or more. Some repetitive wrist/hand movements, normal hearing and vision. Occasional use of computers and office equipment. Occasional driving of Devereux vehicles for business purposes. Ability to meet 100% mastery of Safe and Positive Approaches.

Work Environment: Regularly works inside areas that are adequately lighted and ventilated. Some fluctuations in temperature. Use of Protective equipment such as latex gloves, facial mask protective eyewear, and gown. Possible exposure to blood-borne pathogens. Some degree of physical involvement in exercise of Safe and Positive Approaches.
