About the Opportunity

We are the Design and Engineering partner for Sellafield under the PPP (Programme and Project Partners). This is a 20-year arrangement to deliver £7bn of major projects. We are looking to recruit high value expertise from across regulated and comparable sectors to work in a collaborative environment. PPP is delivering major projects, site wide improvements and provision of supporting services. The Special Nuclear Materials (SNM) Future State Programme is one of the most complex challenges facing the NDA (Nuclear Decommissioning Authorities). The SNM Future State Programme will deliver capabilities to ensure the right material, is in the right package, in the right store to maintain safe and secure storage of material.

We are looking for an innovative and enthusiastic Senior Mechanical Engineer who would like to get involved in Front End Engineering Design (FEED). The Senior Mechanical engineer would report directly to the Mechanical Responsible Engineer. The candidate should be a self-starter, driven and work independently when required. They should be able to delegate tasks and oversee the work of more junior engineers / designers.

You should also be able to demonstrate the following competencies;

  • Experience of working in highly regulated industries, with particular experience across the nuclear sector.

  • Experience of FEED including any of the following - feasibility, appraise and select, optioneering, concept design work - is desirable.

  • Experience in mechanical handling including knowledge of industry standards and regulations including CDM, PUWER, LOLER, PED, Machinery’s Directive.

  • Development and reviewing of written reports, studies, presentations to high standard.

  • Development and reviewing of Mechanical and Process Flow Diagrams’, Design Proposal Drawings, BIM modelling (Inventor/AutoCAD/Vault packages)

  • Presenting engineering solutions to stakeholders and as part of design reviews

  • Assist the development of the mechanical engineering elements of the project/task baseline scope, schedule and budget.

  • Strong interpersonal skills and relationship building with wider design team and key stakeholders

Here’s what you’ll need :

  • Educated to degree level in mechanical engineering.

  • Professionally accredited to IEng/CEng or working towards this level of professional registration
