Position Overview:

The Vice President, Chief Scientific Officer for Health Systems Research and Analytics executes the strategic priorities for Health Systems Research for Sutter Health and our Clinically Integrated Network (CIN). Lead health system research to advance research methods, clinical informatics, and care delivery science to build capacity for rigorously evaluating clinical care pathways and algorithms to define best practices within the Sutter Health Service Lines (SL). The leader will be responsible for developing and overseeing the scientific, strategic, and operational direction of the program, setting scientific goals and objectives, and ensuring high-quality research. Facilitate recruitment and retention of highly skilled investigator scientists. The leader will work at the interface between CIN, Innovation, and SL.

EDUCATION:

Equivalent experience will be accepted in lieu of the required degree or diploma.

Doctorate: Medical Degree and/or Ph. D in Health Economics or Health policy

TYPICAL EXPERIENCE:

10 years recent relevant experience

SKILLS AND KNOWLEDGE:

  • Advanced training in clinical research.

  • Written, oral and electronic communication skills.

  • Analytic, organizational, and interpersonal skills.

  • Past leadership in health systems research.

  • Extensive knowledge of policies, practices, and systems in a healthcare environment.

  • Be able to design original experiments, supervise research staff, assess, and evaluate data and prepare manuscripts for publication.

  • Able to lead a group of investigators and support staff in a supportive environment.

  • Able to lead a group of specialized investigator/scientists and biostatistical staff in analysis of massive patient research datasets.

  • Implements, oversees, and measures performance standards for health system research.

  • Leadership & Human Resource Management.

  • Assists in recruiting and developing investigators in clinical research, as well as the support staffunder them in the delivery of health system science.

  • Interviews, hires, trains, counsels, and completes performance reviews.

  • Identifies individual and team developmental opportunities for the department and managesperformance and development of each team member to ensure staff develops and has theeducation and training necessary to support practices related to functional goals.

  • Identifies opportunities to establish processes, structure, and systems to support and managemilestones and information sharing.

  • Develops goals and objectives necessary to effectively manage practices and programs inareas of responsibility.

  • Fosters a collaborative culture where support service staff engage the investigative and projectmanagement staff at each center as a colleague and business partners.

  • Sets performance goals for the organization and ensures ongoing measurement of Key Performance Indicators.

  • Serves as a primary liaison to critical internal partner stakeholder organizations.

  • Directs the scientific activities for Health Systems Research

Pay Range is $204.33 to $276.44 / hour

The salary range for this role may vary above or below the posted range as determined by location. This range has not been adjusted for any specific geographic differential applicable by area where the position may be filled. Compensation takes into account several factors including but not limited to a candidate’s experience, education, skills, licensure and certifications, department equity, training and organizational needs. Base pay is just one piece of the total rewards program offered by Sutter Health. Eligible roles also qualify for a comprehensive benefits package.
