AP Specialist

Job Description

As an Accounts Payable Specialist, you will be responsible for processing vendor invoices, reviewing vendor packing slips, and ensuring timely payments of invoices for goods purchased. Your role will involve close collaboration with other departments to ensure accurate entry and coding of bills, and timely disbursement of checks.

Key responsibilities include verifying and recording transactions, resolving account discrepancies, communicating with vendors, and maintaining accurate financial records. You will also prepare electronic transfers, perform check runs, reconcile accounts payable transactions, and assist with month-end closings. The role requires maintaining confidentiality and performing various administrative tasks such as data entry and filing paperwork.

Hard Skills

  • 1-3 years accounting experience with AP focus preferred

  • General understanding of principles of finance, bookkeeping and accounting

  • Intermediate proficiency in MS Office, preferably in Excel, Outlook, Teams

  • Time management skills, ability to organize/prioritize tasks and meet deadlines

  • Detail oriented

  • Ability to pivot as things change and take on extra responsibilities

Job Type

This is a 6 month Contract-to-Hire position.

Work Site

This is a fully on-site position in Vista, California.

Work Environment

You will work alongside a supervisor, a senior accountant, an assistant, two billers, and a collections specialist. The environment offers opportunities for cross-training within accounts receivable duties, ideal for those eager to expand their skills.
