Glimpse of the Job:
The Systems Administrator II (Unified Apple Device Management Administrator II) is responsible for providing administration for the Texas A&M University unified Apple device management environment that manages Apple devices across Texas A&M Main campus and TAMU Health campuses statewide.

Minimum Education Required:
- Bachelor’s degree or equivalent combination of education and experience.
Minimum Experience Required:
- Three (3) years of systems administration experience.
Special Requirements:
Required Certifications - Jamf Certified Tech (Jamf 200), Jamf Certified Admin (Jamf 300), Jamf Certified Expert (Jamf 400), Jamf Endpoint Security Admin (Jamf 370)
Three years of experience enrolling and managing Apple devices for the enterprise using Jamf Pro, Kanji, or equivalent device management platform.
Two years managing or administering enterprise application deployments, security policies, configuration baselines, and endpoint privilege management using Jamf Pro.
Expert root cause analysis, change management, and technical documentation skills.
Expertise building configuration profiles and policies and implementing extension attributes for both computers and devices in Jamf Pro, or expertise creating device collections, application deployments, and configuration baselines in Microsoft Endpoint Configuration Manager.
Expertise scripting in Bash or PowerShell. Expertise of security compliance standards including NIST SP 800-53r5 and CIS Benchmarks.
Essential Duties/Tasks:
35%: Server Administration
Provides technical guidance for endpoint management platform server administration. Set-ups and configures endpoint management platform servers; develops system logic and configuration; and conducts server performance analyses and tuning. Assists with routine audits of systems and software.
20%: Problem Management
Conducts the analysis of system logs. Helps coordinate and monitor the problem management process to include backup support. Troubleshoots complex endpoint technology problems. Provides Tier II support.
15%: Endpoint Security
Provides technical guidance on monitoring and maintaining endpoint security and for protecting and recovering data. This includes implementing endpoint management configurations and patch management mechanisms that are designed to meet Texas A&M University Security Controls. Responsible for non-compliance remediation or exception recommendations for workstation endpoints.
10%: New Technology Planning, Evaluation, Deployment, and System Integration Testing
Evaluates and may implement new endpoint technologies. Make recommendations for the development of enterprise endpoint management platform design and build engineers based on the evaluation of new technologies and their applicability to the client’s needs. Creates, evaluates, and proposes plans for the implementation of new endpoint technology deployments and system integration testing.
5%: Documentation
Documents server support methods, procedures, and configurations. Routinely reviews and updates standard operating procedures and business process documentation. Develops disaster recovery plans for complex systems.
5%: Common Duties
Assists with the coordination of the technical activities of a project team; completes reports and summaries for management and/or users including status reports, problem reports, progress summaries, and system utilization reports; serves as a member of an information resource team responsible for setting technical direction; and performs all or some of the duties of a Systems Administrator I.
5%: Professional Development
Provides mentorship and coaching to student technicians and assist with professional development opportunities. Participates in 4+ applicable IT training and professional development activities yearly, as approved by IT leadership.
5%: Other Duties
Performs other duties as assigned.
