Federal Transit Administration Supervisory Transit Safety Specialist - DIRECT HIRE (REMOTE) in United States

Summary This position is located in the Office of System Safety, in FTA’s Office of Transit Safety and Oversight. This position serves as the Division Chief for the Safety Assurance and Risk Management Division and is responsible for the supervision, management, and execution of all activities of the Division. Responsibilities The Supervisory Transit Safety Specialist: Oversees the Division’s work to manage FTA’s safety risk management and assurance processes, manage and analyze safety and security data, monitor and assess the effectiveness of safety risk mitigations, and conduct safety research and standards development. Communicates technical safety risk and assurance information to FTA leadership, the National Transportation Safety Board, and transit industry stakeholders. The ideal candidate for this position is a senior-level professional with strong leadership skills, capabilities in building and maintaining partnerships inside and outside an organization, and experience managing complex, high priority programs. The ideal candidate also has experience with data analysis, performance assessment, and research. SUPERVISORY PROBATIONARY PERIOD: New supervisors must complete a 1-year probationary period (unless already completed). Qualifications To meet the minimum qualifications for this position, you must meet the specialized experience requirements. To qualify for the Grade 15, you must have at least one year of specialized experience equal or equivalent to the GS-14, it must include: Experience organizing and directing teams. Experience leading research or analyses of safety and/or security information. Experience communicating the results of data analyses, performance assessments, or research to audiences.
