Hiring Salary Range

Level I - $36,633 - $56,781 - Grade A12(3)

Level II - $43,238 - $69,181 - Grade B21(3)

Level III - $47,115 - $75,384 - Grade B22(3)

Other Job Requirements/Information

  • This job is a safety sensitive position that will require a pre-employment drug test and subsequent random drug and alcohol testing.

  • This job may require on-call rotation and emergency after hours, weekends, and/or holidays.

Effective 4/11/2023, this position is eligible for the Employee Referral Program.

Minimum Qualifications

Maintenance Technician I:

This is the first level in the maintenance technician series. Incumbents are being trained on the job for heavy equipment operation and repair of public works infrastructure.

  • Completion of coursework up through the eighth grade

  • Or, an equivalent combination of education and experience sufficient to successfully perform the essential duties of the job such as those listed above will be considered

  • Valid driver's license

  • Class A Commercial Driver's License must be obtained within 6 months of employment

Maintenance Technician II:

This is a broad classification in which incumbents are responsible for operating heavy equipment in the repair and maintenance of public works infrastructure and assisting in training new employees.

  • Completion of coursework up through the eighth grade

  • One year of related public works maintenance experience

  • Or, an equivalent combination of education and experience sufficient to successfully perform the essential duties of the job will be considered

  • Valid driver's license

  • Class A Commercial Driver's License must be obtained within 12 months of employment

  • CPR/First Aid Certificate must be obtained within 6 months

  • Road Flagging Certificate must be obtained within 6 months

  • Trench and Excavation Certificate must be obtained within 6 months

  • Confined Space Certificate must be obtained within 6 months

  • Or, an equivalent combination of education and experience sufficient to successfully perform the essential duties of the job

Maintenance Technician III:

This is a broad classification in which incumbents are responsible for serving as a lead on the crew, training personnel, and operating heavy equipment and performing associated labor duties in the construction, repair and maintenance of public works infrastructure to include roadways, sewer, water and/or storm water lines.

  • Completion of coursework up through the eighth grade

  • Three years of related public works maintenance experience

  • Or, an equivalent combination of education and experience sufficient to successfully perform the essential duties of the job will be considered

  • Valid driver's license

  • Class A Commercial Driver's License must be obtained within 12 months of employment;

  • CPR/First Aid Certificate must be obtained within 6 months

  • Road Flagging Certificate must be obtained within 6 months

  • Trench and Excavation Certificate must be obtained within 6 months

  • Confined Space Certificate must be obtained within 6 months
