GENERAL DESCRIPTION:

The Wyoming Department of Transportation (WYDOT) is an agency committed to providing a safe, high-quality, and efficient transportation system for the State of Wyoming. WYDOT is hiring for a Driver Services Driver Compliance Supervisor located in Cheyenne. This position supervises the employees who determine that compliance of drivers is maintained to ensure public safety on our roads and highways.

Cheyenne is a steadily growing community along the Front Range but still true to the history of the Old West. The city offers nearby access to mountain biking, skiing, hiking, fishing, hunting, and other outdoor activities. ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS: The listed functions are illustrative only and are not intended to describe every function which may be performed at the job level.

  • Supervise a complex function of the Driver Services program administration.

  • Oversee the Driver Services Compliance section to ensure that output from the office is error-free and the appropriate processes are followed. Processes include but are not limited to legal document preparation, eligibility determination for limited and/or restricted driving privileges, oversight of the state's ignition interlock program, and requests for driving records.

  • Supervise and direct the work activities and training of employees in the Driver Services Compliance section.

  • Maintain quality control by extensive auditing. Establish a standard of coverage while maintaining authority to correct most errors for sections.

  • Interpret documents and communicate with legal and medical professionals.

  • Ensure confidentiality of Personal Identifying Information.

  • Hire, and conduct performance appraisals, counsel employees on disciplinary matters, and recommend terminations according to State Personnel rules and regulations.

  • Conduct regular meetings to keep the team informed of changes in state statutes, federal regulations, policies, and procedures.

  • Respond to and resolve concerns, inquiries, and grievances from the public, courts, attorneys, law enforcement, and other motor vehicle administrators.

  • Assists in all Driver Services' areas as needed, including training.

Qualifications

PREFERENCES:

Preference will be given to candidates with supervisory experience in the last five (5) years.

Preference will be given for intermediate skill level using Microsoft Word, Excel, Google Drive, Google Calendar, and any databases.

Preference will be given to candidates with experience with legal and/or medical document preparation and/or interpretation.

KNOWLEDGE:

  • Knowledge of Wyoming State Statutes and Federal Regulations pertaining to driver's license and motor vehicle operation, program rules, regulations, and policies.

  • Knowledge of program functions, Driver License Information System, Driving Record Enforcement, and Driver Services Examiners Manuals.

  • Knowledge of accounting procedures relating to balancing money and daily transactions.

  • Knowledge of Personnel Rules.

  • Advanced skill in excellent customer service; decision-making; and effective interpersonal, oral, and written communications.

  • Advanced skill in the use of Google Drive, Docs, Sheets, and Calendar; electronic-based workflow; Microsoft Word and Excel.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

Education:

Bachelor's Degree (typically in Business)

Experience:

0-1 year of progressive work experience (typically in Business) with acquired knowledge at the level of a Drivers Services Helpdesk Specialist

OR

Education & Experience Substitution:

3-4 years of progressive work experience (typically in Business) with acquired knowledge at the level of a Drivers Services Helpdesk Specialist

  • One year of service to WYDOT must be completed, failure to complete this requirement will forfeit the hiring incentive, funds will be recouped from final pay.

  • Internal candidates would be required to remain in the position for a minimum of one (1) year from their promotion date.

  • Employees would only be eligible for one (1) hiring bonus in a 12-month period.

  • If the employee elects to downgrade through an active recruitment and/or appointment during the twelve (12) month period, they would be required to pay the bonus back.
