The University of Southern California Alfred E. Mann School of Pharmacy and Pharmaceutical Sciences (USC Mann) and the Keck School of Medicine of USC Primary Care Physician Assistant (PA) Program invites applications for a co-funded, full-time, non-tenure track position at the rank of Assistant Professor. The successful candidate would be jointly appointed as Assistant Professor of Clinical Pharmacy (Clinician-Educator) and Clinical Assistant Professor of Family Medicine (Clinician-Educator). Competitive candidates will have clinical practice experience and expertise in ambulatory care and/or internal medicine.

The faculty member is expected to contribute to the missions of both USC Mann and the Physician Assistant Program. The faculty member is expected to devote 50% effort to USC Mann through the provision of didactic teaching in the Doctor of Pharmacy curriculum, involvement in the interprofessional education curriculum, committee service, and maintain an ambulatory care clinical practice up to one-day per week. The faculty member will also devote 50% effort to the Keck School of Medicine of USC Primary Care PA Program through the provision of teaching (course coordination, curriculum development and assessment, and committee service) of pharmacology and pharmacotherapy-related topics throughout the curriculum.

The Clinician-Educator is expected to combine teaching and patient care activities to total at least 80 to 85% of USC activities, with excellence in these pursuits demonstrated and fulfilled toward consideration for academic promotion. Scholarly activities and service to the schools through participation on various committees are important contributions for the well-rounded faculty candidate’s recruitment and success. The faculty member should also contribute to the growth of both professions through service on a national level. Annual merit salary increases and eligibility for promotion presumes the demonstrated excellent performance by the Clinician Educator faculty member in teaching and patient care. The position does not lead to consideration for tenure.

Required Credentials and Experience:

Applicants must have a Doctor of Pharmacy degree, California licensure (or eligibility for licensure with passing the State Board exam at the first available sitting). Completion of a PGY-1 pharmacy practice residency is required. Primary care or ambulatory care clinical experience and board certification are preferred. Candidates should possess excellent interdisciplinary communication and coordination skills. Candidates with prior experience at an academic institution of pharmacy, along with proven excellence, leadership, knowledge, and skills in pharmacy practice will be given priority.

The annual base salary range for this position is $135,000 - $145,000. USC Mann is located on the USC Health Sciences Campus, which includes the Keck Hospital of USC, the Norris Cancer Hospital, and LA General Medical Center, the latter being a part of the Department of Health Services for the County of Los Angeles.
