General Summary:

The primary responsibility of the Warehouse Supervisor is to oversee the Warehouse functions, manage inventories and accuracy, and ensure the warehouse is performing as needed to satisfy internal production and operations needs while maintaining a clean and safe working environment. Additionally, this position will concentrate on maximizing productivity, quality, service, process improvement initiatives and focus on providing Leadership, Team building and Cross Department process improvements.

Principal Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Lead, develop, organize work flow and assign tasks to the Warehouse team.

  • Perform quarterly review of targets and conduct staff performance reviews; this includes identifying appropriate development plans and process improvement initiatives.

  • Manage weekly/ bi-weekly/ monthly Department constructive meetings. Provide agendas and follow up actions.

  • Partner with cross-functional departments to establish best practices to improve business operations.

  • Perform cost/benefit analyses in support of process improvement initiatives, review warehousing procedures and production supply practices in efforts to develop recommendations to maximize operational efficiency and effectiveness.

  • Provide oversight on work orders and staging to support efficient production and no downtime.

  • Utilize measurement systems (KPIs/ KPOs) to monitor department effectiveness and customer service to enable ongoing process improvement.

  • Responsible for cross training with the Warehouse Supervisor (Receiving and Distribution) to support as back up as needed.

  • Manage the QA hold and QA rejected material process.

  • Manage the segregation, classification and transportation of raw materials, packaging components and finished goods for safe storage and handling practices.

  • Perform Root Cause analysis through the NCI process and develop effective CAPA actions to prevent recurrence of problems.

  • Manage and guide compliance with inventory control practices and ensure maintenance of physical and ERP inventory records through cycle counting, location audits and material movement processes.

  • Maintain compliance with all regulatory requirements related to Warehousing, Health Canada, FDA and Customer Audit requirements. C-TPAT compliant and maintain a valid certificate.

  • Ensure team is operating in compliance with TARO SOP's and Health and Safety Policies and Procedures.

  • Utilize inventory modules of the ERP system to investigate and resolve inventory discrepancies.

  • Manage process improvement initiatives and cross-functional issue resolution.

  • Manage team schedules, attendance and vacation requests to meet business needs with Warehouse Supervisor (Receiving and Distribution).

  • Coordinate and provide procedural training to Warehouse Team.

  • Oversee the material movement processes within and between Taro Warehouses.

  • Ensure cost containment of Pallet and Drum Return process in collaboration with Warehouse Supervisor (Receiving and Distribution).

  • Manage preventative maintenance system for all equipment, racking and facilities related to all Taro buildings to meet regulation.

  • Complete all cGMP Documentation correctly and in a timely manner.

  • Complete all training assignments and maintain personal training records.

  • Participate in and/or lead Non Conformance Investigations.

  • Complete Corrective and Preventive Actions (CAPAs).

  • Initiate, and follow through with actions required to close Change Controls.

  • Other duties as assigned.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

  • An effective team player with proven coaching, organizational, performance management, leadership skills and interpersonal skills.

  • Excellent written and verbal communication.

  • Knowledge of Warehousing and Material Movement best practices.

  • Solid understanding of Inventory Management.

  • Ability to effectively lead and strengthen relationships for multiple shift operating teams.

  • Ability to communicate effectively throughout the organization.

  • Strong organizational and planning skills.

Background and Experience:

  • Post-secondary Diploma or combination of equivalent education and 10 years of progressive experience within warehousing, shipping, receiving or transportation/logistics environment.

  • Minimum 3 to 5 years people management / leadership experience

  • Valid Drivers license is required.

  • Valid Forklift license is required.

  • Minimum 5 years of experience required operating a forklift (Raymond Reach).

  • Strong knowledge and experience of Warehousing and Material Movement best practices.

  • Understanding of Inventory Management best practices.

  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.

  • Ability to work in fast paced environment.

  • Ability to multi-task.

  • Strong organizational and planning skills.

  • Working knowledge of ERP operating systems, Inventory Management, Warehouse Management and RF.

  • Establish and maintain high personal involvement, accessibility and visibility to employees.

  • Ability to deal and effectively communicate with all levels of management.

Problem Solving:

  • Ability to resolve personnel issues quickly and effectively.

  • Ability to perform in depth inventory investigations for purposes of reconciliation.

  • Ability to analyze processes in order to determine the root causes of deficiencies.

  • Ability to analyze cost drivers in order to reduce operating costs while maintaining or improving efficiencies.

  • Ability to recognize staff performance problems and to take the necessary actions to resolve.

  • Ability to communicate effectively (written and orally) both with direct reports and with management and colleagues.

Working Conditions:

  • May be contacted through telephone during off regular hours regarding urgent or emergency issues.

  • Combination office/warehouse environment with 20-30% of time spent in the warehouse or production areas.

  • Exposed to noise from equipment.
