We are currently seeking a motivated Drafter/CAD Operator II to join our talented team. In this role, you will be responsible for creating detailed technical drawings using computer-aided design (CAD) software, ensuring accuracy by following specifications and industry standards, collaborating with engineers and other team members, and staying updated with the latest CAD technologies.
Work is performed on site in Norfolk, VA and Virginia Beach, VA.
This position is contingent upon award news Spring of 2026.
Key Responsibilities:
Under minimal supervision, use computer-aided software to develop drawings and schematics based on layouts, sketches, or redlines.
Draft detailed multi-view drawings of machine and products.
Review technical drawings for accuracy and completeness.
Develop properly constrained 3D models of complex assemblies.
Understand and implement design requirements provided by engineers.
Review drawings for errors in dimensions, tolerances, and compliance with standards.
Work closely with engineers and other team members to ensure project alignment.
Keep up-to-date with the latest features and functionalities of the CAD software.

Qualifications
Qualifications:
Associates degree in Drafting or related scientific discipline; OR completion of formal resident trade school or apprentice program in drafting.
Two (2) to five (5) years of professional experience as a drafter preparing Level 2 and 3 engineering drawings, circuit schematics, and illustrations using AutoCAD for shipboard electronics systems or equipment.
Autodesk Certified Professional in Inventor for Mechanical/Electrical Design or in AutoCAD for Design and Drafting certification preferred.
Two (2) years of experience drafting/illustrating in the electronics field, to include:
computerized drafting applications
digital imaging techniques
use of AutoCad/Inventor or similar software
plan and prepare graphic presentations of complex items
Experience with DoD processes and procedures.
Ability to clearly communicate with engineers and other team members regarding design changes, clarifications, and potential issues.
Required Security Clearance:
US Citizenship required.
Must possess or be able to obtain a Department of Defense (DoD) Secret security clearance.
Active Interim Secret or final Secret clearance is preferred.
