Southwire Job Description
The Senior Accountant is responsible for the financial data collection, performance analysis, and timely closing and reporting per the corporate closing schedule. The Senior Accountant will ensure that all financial and accounting policies are consistently and accurately implemented and reported with strict adherence to generally accepted accounting principles (GAAP).
Key Responsibilities
· Prepare all financial activities, including specified entries/requirements for the monthly close-out process
· Review and analyze inventory, conduct research, and perform analytical studies regarding cost
analysis and profitability.
· Provide proactive financial support and analysis for plant management and operations finance team
· Prepare and report variance analysis and account reconciliations, recommend ways to reduce costs
· Maintain and process capital projects and fixed assets, including budgeting, project accounting,
reporting and disposals
· Update and monitor standard costs as required
· Prepare documentation for external auditors
· Participate in and ensure proper controls for monthly physical inventory counts
· Supports annual budget process and conducts special projects as required
· Ensure timely submission, accuracy, and validity of financial data to management
Qualifications and Experience
Bachelor's Degree in Accounting or Finance is required. MBA or MPACC degree a plus. CPA or
· CMA designation preferred.
· 5- years of cost accounting experience in a manufacturing environment requires years of experience
in budgeting, forecasting, and variance analysis.
· Previous experience with ERP systems SAP. Advanced, proficient knowledge of Microsoft Office
Suite with an emphasis in Excel a plus.
· Must possess excellent verbal and written communication, organization, presentation, interpersonal,
and project management skills. Muto multitasks and works well independently and in a team environment.
· Must be able to effectively handle multiple projects simultaneously in a deadline-driven environment.
· Onsite 3-4 days per week.
Required Education, Experience, and Skills
Minimum Education: Bachelor's Degree
Specialized Degree: Accounting & Finance
Years of Experience: 5
Field of Expertise: cost accounting experience in a manufacturing environment, experience in budgeting, forecasting, and variance analysis.
Preferred Minimum Education: Master's
Other Preferred Skills, Licenses, & Certificates: MBA or MPACC degree a plus
