Location: Beaumont, Texas
Pay Range: $100,000 - $125,000
Job Summary
Our client, a leading steel fabricator, is seeking an experienced Rolling Mill Mechanical Maintenance Supervisor to lead the mechanical maintenance operations in their rolling mill and finishing departments. In this role, you will be responsible for managing a skilled team of maintenance technicians, ensuring optimal equipment performance, reducing downtime, and driving continuous improvements in a high-demand steel manufacturing environment. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in mechanical maintenance in rolling mills and steel production.
Key Responsibilities
Team Leadership: Supervise a team of 18+ mechanical maintenance technicians within the rolling mill and finishing areas. Oversee team development, performance evaluations, training, and the enforcement of safety and operational standards.
Maintenance Planning & Execution: Lead the development and implementation of a proactive preventive maintenance program focused on the specific needs of rolling mill machinery. Prioritize and schedule maintenance tasks to minimize production downtime while ensuring operational efficiency.
Troubleshooting & Problem-Solving: Quickly identify and resolve mechanical, hydraulic, and pneumatic system malfunctions in rolling mill equipment. Utilize root cause analysis to prevent recurring issues and implement cost-effective maintenance solutions.
Spare Parts & Inventory Management: Manage the inventory of critical spare parts for rolling mill machinery and related equipment to ensure prompt repairs and minimize unplanned downtime.
Safety & Compliance: Uphold and enforce strict safety protocols within the maintenance department. Conduct regular safety inspections and ensure adherence to all relevant industry safety standards and environmental regulations.
Performance Monitoring: Analyze key performance indicators (KPIs) such as equipment uptime, maintenance costs, and safety metrics to drive improvement initiatives in maintenance processes and equipment reliability.
Continuous Improvement: Collaborate with the production team to implement initiatives aimed at improving overall equipment effectiveness (OEE), reducing maintenance costs, and increasing uptime in the rolling mill operations.
Qualifications
Experience: Proven experience supervising mechanical maintenance teams in a rolling mill or steel manufacturing environment.
Technical Expertise: In-depth knowledge of mechanical, hydraulic, and pneumatic systems, as well as specialized rolling mill equipment.
Leadership: Demonstrated ability to lead, motivate, and develop maintenance teams within a fast-paced industrial setting.
Problem-Solving: Strong troubleshooting and diagnostic skills, with the ability to address complex mechanical issues promptly.
Maintenance Management: Experience with maintenance planning, scheduling, and managing spare parts inventory specific to rolling mills.
Safety and Compliance: Strong understanding of safety protocols and environmental regulations specific to steel manufacturing.
Communication Skills: Effective communicator with the ability to collaborate across teams and departments.
Additional Information
Reports to: General Supervisor, Rolling Mill Maintenance
On-call Availability: Position requires availability for emergency breakdowns outside of regular work hours.
