Cleveland Clinic LPN Clinical Assistant I - Cardiology Practice in Vero Beach, Florida

As a Clinical Assistant I, you will function as a member of the Patient Care Team by utilizing your knowledge of nursing theory and diseases processes to provide top-quality care to patients in the Cardiology Unit. Your fellow caregivers in this department prioritize teamwork, going above and beyond to create a uniform and supportive environment for all. You will have ample opportunities to grow alongside them as you explore professional courses to enhance your nursing skills.
A caregiver in this position works days from 8:30AM - 5:00PM and 8:00AM - 4:30PM.
A caregiver who excels in this role will:
Provide patient care and accurate medication administration as required.
Documents medical records, authorization forms and laboratory requisitions and implements pain management assessment and documentation.
Demonstrate knowledge of disease process and therapeutics by recognizing changes in patients' status and report pertinent information to Charge Nurse or Physicians.
Utilize opportunity for health teaching of patient, family and others through appropriate teaching methods related to growth and development and age specific factors.
Participate in the departmental orientation of new employees in a positive manner, share knowledge and experiences, and provide guidance when assigned.
Maintain complete and up-to-date documentation and files at all times.
Adhere to the National Patient Safety Goals as outlined by JCAHO.
Follow Code Blue protocol as per Clinic Policy.
Minimum qualifications for the ideal future caregiver include:
Graduate of Accredited Licensed Practice Nurse (LPN) Program
Knowledge of Infection Control Practices
Computer literacy
Current licensure as a Florida Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN)
Basic Life Support (BLS) Certification
Preferred qualifications for the ideal future caregiver include:
Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS)
One year of clinical experience
EKG and manual blood pressure experience

Physical Requirements:
Frequent walking, sitting and standing
Frequent talking and listening when giving instruction and explanations
Frequent use of the phone, fax machines and computer
Constant lifting and moving of patients
Carrying equipment, supplies and material up to 50 pounds without help and over 50 pounds with the help of mechanical devices or other personnel
Stooping, pushing and pulling when moving patient into position for treatment
Reaching, handling, feeling and manipulating equipment into position
Some exposure to blood and blood borne pathogens
