As part of our team, the Software Engineer II will work on the best of networking technology, you will design and build the fundamental pieces that get us to a zero-trust networking vision. You will be learning how to enhance and work with the core networking areas spanning DNS, DHCP, Firewall, HTTP, TCP/IP, QUIC, and VPN. You will be working on cutting-edge technology that includes contributions to standards bodies such as the IETF.

Responsibilities

What you will do in this role:

  • Design and implement features in the Windows networking stack that accrue to network security.

  • Conduct analysis and do focused investigations based on customer cases related to the core networking areas using a variety of mechanisms such as logging, packet capture, telemetry data.

  • Debug, analyze and then design and implement fixes for defects found in the networking stacks.

  • Collaboratively work with teams in Redmond and IDC for design and development activities.

  • Learn and keep up with networking standards-based protocols with the goal of building out great functionality to help customers.

Qualifications

Required Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science or related technical field AND 2+ years technical engineering experience with coding in languages including, but not limited to, C, C++, C#, Java, JavaScript, or Python

  • OR equivalent experience.

Other Requirements:

Ability to meet Microsoft, customer and/or government security screening requirements are required for this role. These requirements include but are not limited to the following specialized security screenings:

  • Microsoft Cloud Background Check : This position will be required to pass the Microsoft Cloud background check upon hire/transfer and every two years thereafter.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science, or related technical discipline AND 4+ years technical engineering experience with coding in languages including, but not limited to, C, C++, C#, Java, JavaScript, or Python

  • OR equivalent experience.

  • Proficient coding, debugging, testing, problem-solving, commmunication and collaboration skills.

  • Demonstrated understanding of systems software.

  • Proficient design and implementation skills using C#, Java, or C++.

  • Experience with networking protocols and architecture.

  • Experience with scripting languages.

Software Engineering IC3 - The typical base pay range for this role across Canada is CAD $83,600 - CAD $159,600 per year.
