Air National Guard Units IT SPECIALIST (INFOSEC/NETWORK) in Van Nuys, California

Summary This IT SPECIALIST (INFOSEC/NETWORK) position, is located in a Cyberspace Operations unit and is part of the CA 195th WG. Responsibilities THIS IS A T32 EXCEPTED SERVICE, PERMANENT/ POSITION The primary purpose of the IT SPECIALIST (INFOSEC/NETWORK), GS-2210-13, is to serve as the Operations Officer or Chief of Cyber Planning. May make additional selections within 90 days of eligible(s) issuance. Requirements Conditions of Employment CALIFORNIA NATIONAL GUARD MEMBERSHIP IS REQUIRED: This is an excepted service position that requires membership in the California National Guard. Selectee will be required to wear the military uniform. Acceptance of an excepted service position constitutes concurrence with these requirements as a condition of employment. Military technicians must be assigned to a military position in the same unit which they are employed or, in a unit that is supported by the employing activity. Military technicians must hold the military grade specified for the position. Areas(s) of Consideration: Consideration is first given to the areas below. AREA I= Current California National Guard employees who are serving on a Permanent/Indefinite/Temporary appointment. AREA II= Current California National Guard members. AREA III= Current military members of the Air Force/Army National Guard, Air Force/Army Reserve or Air Force/Army Active Duty. (Applicants who are currently in other Air/Army branches and NOT currently a member of the California National Guard (CNG) must become a member of a compatible unit of assignment within the Air Force CNG commensurate with the military grade listed in this announcement prior to federal assignment). Military Grades: O-3 through O-4 Recruitment/Relocation Recruitment/Relocation Incentive MAY BE authorized, subject to funding and approval. PCS Relocation Costs MAY BE authorized subject to provisions of the Joint Travel Regulation, funding, and an agency determination that a Permanent Change of Station (PCS) move is in the Government's best interest. Must maintain appropriate level of security clearance. Must wear appropriate military uniform including required grooming standards. Must maintain a compatible military unit, grade and job assignment as required by current directives. Participation in direct deposit is mandatory. Must be certified IAW DOD 8570.01-M, Federal Information Security Management Act of 2002, Clinger Cohen Act of 1996 and current AF directives. Qualifications IT SPECIALIST (INFOSEC/NETWORK), GS-2210-13: Must have at least one year of experience, equivalent to at least the GS-12 level, or equivalent pay band in other pay systems in the Federal government. This experience was obtained in the private sector, but must is comparable to the GS grade indicated: Experience performing cyberspace operations that protect and defend (or assess the capability to protect and defend) information and information systems by ensuring their availability, integrity, authentication, confidentiality, and non-repudiation; Experience providing for mission assurance of information systems by incorporating protection, detection, and reaction capabilities; Experienced in applying applicable policies, standards, directives, and operations manuals to perform systems analysis, evaluate approaches, offer advice, define alternative approaches, and coordinate requirements regarding the merits of proposed applications; Experienced in systems analysis, configuration management, and computer equipment requirements related to networks to assess vulnerabilities; Experience with evaluating innovative approaches in formulation of programs or systems specifications. Your qualifications will be evaluated on the following competencies: Attention to Detail Cybersecurity and Cyber Operations Information Technology Policy and Planning Partnering Education Substitution of Education for Specialized Experience: Ph.D. or equivalent doctoral degreeor3 full years of progressively higher level graduate education leading to a Ph.D. or equivalent doctoral degree that demonstrates the knowledge, skills and abilities necessary to do the work required.
