Project Overview:
Bechtel’s commitment to renewables and clean energy is driving the delivery of transformative projects for our customers. Our renewables team will manage the project lifecycle, including engineering, procurement, construction, commissioning, and startup, for the Mammoth South, Central I, and Central II solar projects. Each project will generate 376 MW DC, totalling 1.1 GW DC, in Pulaski County, Indiana.
Job Summary:
The Field Engineer - Trackers is responsible for overseeing the assembly and installation of the tracker systems on the project. In this role, you will provide comprehensive project field engineering support, including work planning and packaging, material management, quantity verification and validation, safety and quality control, technical inspection and testing, and coordination of system turnover. Your efforts will ensure that field engineering activities are conducted safely, completed on time, and meet quality standards and project requirements.
Major Responsibilities:
Work Planning & Packaging
Prepares construction drawings and sketches.
Interfaces in planning construction methods and procedures.
Material Management
Initiates requisitions for field purchases
Prepares quantity takeoffs of field purchased material and equipment.
Quantities
- Verifies commodities on quantity tracking systems or other computer database systems as required.
Safety / Quality Control
- Ensures zero accident philosophy and requirements are implemented and adhered to by craft and others when in the operational area, and tools and equipment are in safe condition and operated safely.
Technical
- Proactively considers continuous learning or show interest to pursue appropriate learning activities
System Turnover Coordinator
For Direct Hire
- Develops firm understanding of system and area scoping and drawings required for package development.
STR / Subcontract Coordinator
Reviews and approves inspection test plans
Coordinates reviews of subcontractor submittals
Education and Experience Requirements:
Required bachelor's degree (or international equivalent) and 2-5 years of relevant experience or 6-9 years of relevant work experience
Required Knowledge and Skills:
Demonstrated commitment to Environment, Safety and Health (ES&H) and commitment to a Zero Incident safety program.
Must be physically capable to conduct field inspections and participate in project walkdowns which require the following activities: extensive walking in and around a construction site, walking on uneven surfaces, and lifting up to 40 lbs.
Basic to intermediate knowledge of EPC and EPCM construction programs, technologies, means, and methods.
Familiarity with Bechtel Standard Applications (BSAPs), including Setroute, ArcGIS, Aconex, DSCS, and Unifier.
Basic to intermediate knowledge of supervisory functions relating to construction field activities.
Must be able to demonstrate good communication and interpersonal skills to maintain a positive work environment between all parties including the client, contractors, and other stakeholders throughout the project life cycle.
