Responsibilities

PURPOSE: Responsible for routine cleaning schedule for the offices, break rooms, restrooms, manufacturing building and any grounds area as assigned.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: The primary duties and responsibilities of the Sanitation worker to fulfill SQF criteria consist of, but are not limited to, the following:

  • Exemplifies the Berry Behaviors and Values at all times. Leads by example and exhibits professionalism in all areas when representing Berry inside and outside of the plant.

  • Responsible for adhering to all GMP and safety rules at all times.

  • Develop, with the Manager, a routine cleaning schedule for the offices, manufacturing building and any grounds area as assigned including but not limited to: sweeping, mopping, vacuuming, dusting, cleaning and servicing restrooms including timely disposal of garbage and waste materials in proper containers by hand or with the use of powered equipment.

  • Follow procedures for the use of chemical cleaners and power equipment, in order to prevent damage to floors and fixtures.

  • Responsible for food safety and regulatory requirements within their scope of work

  • Responsible for notifying management of any actual or potential food safety issues noted

  • Responsible for the inventory of various supplies and cleaning products needed to perform scheduled cleaning, and notifying Manager to re-order supplies.

  • Staff are informed and held accountable for their food safety and regulatory responsibilities;

  • Staff are positively encouraged and required to notify management of actual or potential food safety issues; and

  • Staff are empowered to act to resolve food safety issues within their scope of work.

  • Using/disposing of cleaning products according to manufacturer’s instructions.

  • Well versed in plant safety procedures such as: Hazard Communication Program (Material Safety Data Sheets), proper lifting and bending procedures, accident prevention, personal protective equipment, bloodborne pathogens, basic electrical safety, plant evacuation routes, safe use of cleaning equipment, and the safety concerns of co-workers & visitors for wet floors and electrical cords.

  • Periodically may perform work that does not pertain to job function such as, but not limited to: work production line, breaking machines; secondary work responsibilities, assisting 5S or Quality team.

  • Various other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

E DUCATIONAL, SKILL, & PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:

  • High School Diploma or equivalent or 2+ years’ experience working in housekeeping/Sanitation position.

  • Ability to operate and use Sanitation tools, equipment, and supplies such as floor buffers, vacuum cleaners, and cleaning compounds and solutions.

  • Knowledge of the proper use and disposal of chemicals, which may include fertilizers and pesticides.

  • Good hand and eye coordination.

  • Ability to regularly lift and/or move up to 25 pounds, frequently lift and/or move up to 50 pounds.

  • Ability to intermittently stand, walk, bend, climb stairs, twist, crouch, reach, and lower for extended periods of time.

  • Good communication skills--verbal and written; must effectively communicate.

  • Independent in working effectively with little supervision; self-starter, displaying ability to work and deliver results in a fast-paced, performance driven environment.

  • Good attention to detail and ability to multi-task.
