GE Vernova Engineer - Tool Design in Vadodara, India

Job Description Summary

The Tool Design Engineer will join the Tooling team within Engineering department, who is responsible for technical studies and design of tools for transportation and erection of main equipment constituting a hydropower plant (embedded parts, turbine, generator, valves and hydromechanical).

He/She will be specifically in charge of project execution for already awarded projects in various region.

Job Description

Roles and Responsibilities

  • For a given project in execution, he/she will perform the design of the tools according to the CoE’s Design Practices and with the validation of the tooling principal engineer

  • To Perform analytical calculation for tool design considering allowable stress criteria

  • Selection of material from approved list of standards like ASTM, DIN, EN, SI etc.

  • Creation of 3D model and details of tool along with Bill of Material

  • Conduct design reviews with cross functional team and releasing the engineering document in PLM software

Required Qualifications/Characteristics

  • Bachelor’s degree from an accredited university in Mechanical Engineering

  • Must have a good command on analytical calculations and material selection with good knowledge of different standards – ASME, EN, IS etc.

  • Significant experience (>5 years) in mechanical design of hydro mechanical parts

  • Experience in design of lifting equipment and access platform or significant experience on site

  • Good knowledge of 3D CAD software preferably NX and PLM system, having required skill to create detail drawings and Bill of Material.

  • Having good knowledge of Design Tolerances and GD&T.

  • Excellent communication skills to deal with global team

  • Proven ability to work with cross-functional and global teams

  • Strong interpersonal & design conceptualization skills, proven leadership skill and a result-oriented approach
