Job Description:

Department Overview:

The Enterprise Decision Support (EDS) team is responsible for leading the financial planning process for TDBG, providing enterprise-level management reporting of results, and facilitating the enterprise financial performance management framework. The team is also responsible for enterprise-level analytics and insights, including industry and peer competitive analytics, in support of the CFO and other senior executives. This team works closely with business and functional leaders across the Bank and engages with a diverse set of stakeholders including Line of Business Strategy, Risk Management, TBSM, Enterprise Strategy and Corporate Development, and Finance.

Job Description:

The position reports to the AVP, Planning Forecasting and Strategy, and the primary accountabilities of this role are to lead the Bank's enterprise Financial Planning programs and support the enterprise strategic planning process. Accountabilities include:

  • Execute quantitative and qualitative analyses of the Enterprise-wide forecasts and plans, including detailed P&L and total bank management reporting metrics, to support discovery of insights in conjunction of the businesses, Segment Finance, and other internal partners.

  • Proactively seek out and summarize for senior management consumption, insights and key trends or implications to the latest forecast and plans, working with other members of the EDS team as needed.

  • Identify issues requiring research or analysis, compile and analyze data and financial information, draw inferences and conclusions and determine recommendations as necessary in development of financial targets and guidance for upcoming Plan/Forecast cycles. Provide meaningful information and analysis in response to issues / questions raised.

  • Support the enterprise strategic planning process including: Plan and coordinate portions of the SET and Board strategy offsite meeting; Support the preparation of the financial plan portion of the Board-approved integrated business plan; and Consolidate the final integrated business plan with inputs from across the enterprise.

  • Collaborate closely with internal partners including but not limited to the businesses, Segment Finance, Investor Relations and Enterprise Strategy.

  • Promote a positive work environment that encourages productivity, innovation, creativity, and teamwork. Assist with mentoring junior staff and the development of team members.

  • In addition, this role will support various ad-hoc analytics and decision support activity for consumption of the senior executives and the Board, related to but not limited to financial or management analyses and supporting strategic investment decisions.

Skills and Experience:

  • Must have a high degree of numeracy and be comfortable with financial analysis and financial institutions.

  • Strong communicator with excellent written and oral communication skills, capable of managing multiple stakeholders. Strong leadership skills with demonstrated ability to impact and influence.

  • Demonstrated business acumen, including ability to extract key messages from financial analysis, in developing and presenting solutions/alternatives.

  • Demonstrated ability to manage complexity and change - meet challenging timelines, manage multiple projects and succeed in an environment where there may be significant ambiguity and fluid circumstances.

  • Demonstrated knowledge of key finance issues (e.g. accounting, treasury, tax, capital).

  • Demonstrated creativity in problem solving and structuring solutions.

Specific Educational Requirements

  • Must have an undergraduate degree in business, accounting, mathematics, economics or a related field with high numeracy content, or an MBA.

  • CA and/ or CFA designations preferred.
