Canadian Tire Risk & Insurance Analyst in Toronto, Ontario
What you’ll do
Reporting to Manager, Risk & Insurance, the candidate will support the insurance team and its functions within the Risk Department, with an objective to help identify, control and minimize the overall cost of risk to the Corporation. The ideal candidate will be well-organized, a self-starter and able to demonstrate exceptional customer service skills.
Responsibilities:
Operational:
Develop/administer insurance and risk management programs as set out by senior management
Conduct statistical analysis of loss information and identify trends for loss prevention with the objective of reducing operational and reputational risk across the Corporation
Maintain a strong relationship and open communication with business units to promote awareness of risk management practices and procedures
Build, deliver, and support the team in the facilitation of risk management training and presentations
Provide ad hoc reporting and risk analysis to identify and quantify risks across the Corporation and help facilitate risk mitigation decisions made by senior management, the Board of Directors, Audit Committee, Legal, and Compliance teams
Attend weekly Product Compliance Committee meetings to help facilitate key decisions with respect to product safety, quality, and liability
Review, request and maintain certificates of insurance to ensure compliance within contractual requirements.
Manage insurance policy database while analyzing coverage terms and policy language annually for gaps/discrepancies
Claims:
Support the daily claims intake process with internal and external partners while making key decisions on reporting and handling strategies
Manage litigation database and assist in the litigation process by working with internal stakeholders in support of defence counsel. Requires direct interface with business units, insurance adjusters, and legal counsel.
Monitor and evaluate progress of insurance claims to identify, address and resolve outstanding issues
Communicate directly with Merchandise teams to procure information as it relates to product liability claims
Assist with subrogation efforts by working with internal stakeholders in obtaining repair invoices
Works in conjunction with internal stakeholders to obtain settlement approval for larger claims
Support monthly reconciliation of payments, adjusting fees and other expenses associated with claims.
Monitor trust account balances on a monthly basis to ensure sufficient funding
Support product retrieval process and coordinate with applicable teams to ensure its return. May require infrequent visits to offsite location to help procure and store products.
Assists in conducting quarterly KPI review of third party adjusters (TPA)
Renewal:
Coordinates and gathers relevant information for annual submission of policy renewals
Maintain listing of corporate fleet and ensure automobile slips reach intended recipients at renewal.
Participate in annual site visits and support risk consultants by answering any outstanding questions stemming from the visits
What you bring
University degree or College diploma in a business-related discipline
Canadian Risk Management (CRM), Chartered Insurance Professional (CIP) or equivalent designation, or progressing towards completion
Minimum 3 years of experience in a Risk Management, Insurance, or Claims related position
Strong claims background (particularly commercial auto and property) would be considered an asset
Excellent communication and presentation skills
Detail oriented and able to work within tight deadlines
Bilingual (English/French) is considered an asset
