Position Summary

Responsible for overseeing, coordinating, and successfully carrying out a series of projects both within and outside of Kodiak’s core operating areas. This entails aligning project activities with the company's strategic objectives and commitments. The role involves assuming full project management duties for medium to large-scale endeavors, encompassing engineering, procurement, fabrication, and construction/construction management (EPC) projects, which carry moderate to elevated levels of risk. Exercise discretion and independent judgment with respect to assigned duties.

Essential Duties & Responsibilities

  • Prioritize Health, Safety, and Environmental (EHS) considerations at every project stage.

  • Adhere completely to Kodiak’s main contract, ensuring proper client reporting, notifications, project system initiation, and closure requirements.

  • Set up the project's foundational plan guaranteeing thorough documentation, consistent updates during all project phases, and effective communication to the Kodiak project team.

  • Achieve project completion while staying aligned with the execution and commercial plans.

  • Perform additional responsibilities as assigned.

  • Handle the big-picture aspects of multiple projects and takes action to minimize any potential risks.

  • Supervises Project Management Teams who are handling various aspects of projects.

  • Evaluates high-level results from various projects.

  • Ensures that quality checks are carried out for all projects.

  • Offers guidance and direction to project teams.

  • Establishes, applies, and upholds effective business practices.

  • Creates and executes strategic goals for their team that align with the Business Unit’s broader strategic plans.

  • Provides reports on the financial performance (profit and loss) of their designated area.

  • Analyzes and consolidates profitability, revenue, and margins.

  • Assists in generating forecasts for projects and the overall financial overview for their designated area.

  • Takes charge of resolving any billing-related concerns.

  • Attend all customer meetings, as necessary.

  • Assist in the solicitation, estimation and negotiation of new projects, as needed.

Education, Experience, & Training

  • Practical experience at job sites and a strong grasp of construction safety protocols.

  • A minimum of twelve (12) years of pertinent expertise in managing engineering, procurement, fabrication, and construction/construction management (EPC) projects.

  • Solid understanding and hands-on experience in project design, engineering, procurement, material management, construction, commissioning, start-up, turnover processes, sequencing, and interactions.

  • Proficiency in Project Controls and Finance, including knowledge of:

  • Scheduling

  • Measuring progress

  • Evaluating and managing risks

  • Using a code of accounts

  • Structuring work breakdowns

  • Managing changes

  • Controlling costs

  • Estimation procedures and planning

  • A general grasp of contract law and knowing when to involve legal experts.

  • Proactively goal-oriented, taking initiative to positively influence events, lead the Fluor project team, and guide client decision-making.

  • Ability to solve intricate problems and thrive in complex project or business environments.

  • Capacity to establish and uphold high personal performance standards, taking responsibility for accomplishing tasks successfully.

  • Exemplification of innovation, initiative, maturity, and prudent judgment.

  • Minimum ten (10) years of relevant experience required.

  • Bachelor’s degree in Construction Management, Engineering or other technical field from an accredited college or university or eight (8) years of relevant work experience in lieu of a degree.

  • Minimum five (5) years of experience with project management, construction management or project engineering

  • Minimum three (3) year experience with contract and/or construction scope writing.

  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications (Word, Excel, Outlook, etc), PDF programs (Adobe/Bluebeam), NavisWorks

Physical Demands

  • Heavy Work: Exerting in excess of 25 pounds of force occasionally, and in excess of 50 pounds of force rarely to move objects.
