Job Description

The Graphic Specialist, under general supervision, is responsible for creating and implementing various design projects for the marketing and communications needs of the University. Performs complex graphics design and consultation work.

Salary information: The expected salary for this position is $44,000.00 annually.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Develops and executes promotional pieces to support annual and long range multi-faceted marketing and recruitment plans.

  • Conceptualizes, designs and produces dynamic promotional pieces (magazines, brochures, posters and advancement literature) to promote the university’s mission/initiatives and maintains consistency with branding guidelines.

  • Works with website content management team to maintain the university website with updated graphics and photos.

  • Provides graphic expertise and vision to design fundraising materials.

  • Proactively researches design and technological trends to ensure the university’s publications, website and social media are effective in reaching target audiences.

  • Researches and keeps university personnel aware of changes to postal regulations affecting mailing procedures and materials.

  • Monitors for errors during production stages and is responsible for the quality of final products.

  • Communicates with vendors to obtain cost estimates for projects to meet quality specifications, financial budgets, and deadlines.

  • Maintains documentation for each project including approvals, comments, drafts and artwork.

  • Works efficiently and professionally in a fast-paced, deadline-driven environment.

  • Assists with special events to support university programs and scholarships.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS & ABILITIES:

Minimum Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Graphic Design, Fine Arts, or equivalent combination of education and experience.

  • Two years of related experience in graphics design, web development, print and electronic media, marketing or related design field.

  • Ability to multitask and work cooperatively with others.

  • Ability to balance multiple projects and deadlines.

  • Strong oral and written communication skills.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience in design and production of print media of all types

  • Experience working with InDesign, Photoshop, Illustrator, or Publisher

  • Experience utilizing both Macintosh and PC operating systems

  • High degree of flexibility and critical thinking skills

  • Must be able to maintain a positive attitude and work well with a variety of personnel

  • Experience in print advertising/marketing

  • Experience in graphic production/utilization for web publication

  • Portfolio of previous work required at interview
