The Kaiser Martin Group, Inc. Estimator/Purchaser in Temple, Pennsylvania

 

SUMMARY

The Estimator/Purchaser works directly with the CMs and PA. This includes reviewing the specifications and drawings for a project and then gathering all necessary bid/information. Once the job is signed, the entire job must be bought out.  This includes both vendors and subcontractors. Additionally, entering all information into the Company software, producing and managing requests for quotes and subs qualifications to bid. Compiling all information into the Master Bidding Format.

 

PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES

  1. Coordinates and supervises all activities related to Estimating and Purchasing.
  2. Work with CM and PA to achieve the smooth flow of information for bidding and buy-out of projects.
  3. Maintains detailed bidding schedules, identifies, and solves problems as it relates to estimating and buy-out.
  4. Understands/Comprehends project plans, specifications, safety, equipment, etc. related to the project.
  5. Maintains positive relationships with customers, contractors, suppliers, and other employees.
  6. Prepares daily and weekly schedules for CMs of items needed or work to be completed.
  7. Maintains an organized process and office.
  8. Ensure that proper procedures are being carried out.
  9. Assist CM and PA on their project reviews.
  10. Attend technical meetings for reviewing contract docs and submittals.
  11. Maintain communication with CM and PA on any problems which may develop.

     

ADDITIONAL RESPONSIBILITIES

As directed by the CM, PA or President of Kaiser-Martin Group.

 

KNOWLEDGE AND SKILL REQUIREMENTS

  1. Organization: Utilizes strong organizational skills.
  2. Communication: Displays strong written and oral communication skills and employs effective listening skills.
  3. Problem Solving: Analyzes problems and makes sound decisions in a timely manner based on objectives, risks, implications and costs.
  4. Interpersonal Skills: Tactful and mature demeanor with well-developed interpersonal skills including the ability to work well with diverse personalities.
  5. Reading Comprehension -- Understanding written sentences and paragraphs in work related documents.
  6. Active Listening -- Giving full attention to what other people are saying, taking time to understand the points being made, asking questions as appropriate, and not interrupting at inappropriate times.
  7. Math Skills -- Strong math skills required
  8. Computer skills -- A good working knowledge of computers, Microsoft products and willingness to learn the software.
  9. Auto CAD skills -- Not necessary, but a plus
