Position Specific Description
NextEra Energy is seeking a highly skilled and experienced Senior Wind Technician to join our dynamic team. As a Senior Wind Technician, you will be responsible for the efficient maintenance, troubleshooting, and repair of wind turbines within our wind farms. Your expertise will ensure the reliability and performance of our wind energy assets, contributing to our mission of providing sustainable energy solutions.
Key Responsibilities:
Maintenance and Repair: Conduct regular maintenance and repairs on wind turbine components, including mechanical, electrical, and hydraulic systems.
Troubleshooting: Diagnose and troubleshoot complex mechanical, electrical, and control issues to minimize downtime and optimize turbine performance.
Safety Compliance: Adhere to all safety protocols and regulations to ensure a safe working environment for all team members.
Inspection and Testing: Perform thorough inspections, testing, and performance evaluations of wind turbines and related equipment.
Documentation: Maintain accurate records of maintenance activities, repairs, and parts inventory.
Technical Support: Provide guidance and technical support to junior technicians and assist in training programs.
Collaboration: Work closely with operations and engineering teams to implement best practices and improve turbine efficiency.
Emergency Response: Be available for on-call duty to address urgent issues and perform emergency repairs as necessary.
Job Overview
Employees in this role perform maintenance, troubleshooting, and repairs on wind turbines and other associated equipment. Individuals understand the mechanics, including both electrical and maintenance of hydraulics, of all wind turbine components. This position replaces mechanical and electrical components, understands schematics and uses appropriate diagnostic tools. The successful candidate will interpret fault reports, maintain power generation reports, service logs in the computer database, and monitor turbine performance and SCADA systems.
Job Duties & Responsibilities
Under limited supervision:
Performs regular preventative maintenance and repair on wind turbine power generation equipment
Completes electrical, electronic, and mechanical troubleshooting
Maintains all company supplied equipment, facilities, and tooling
Applies advanced understanding of the technical and process functions including leadership competencies
Serves as qualified reliever in the absence of site management
Leads teams in Quality Improvement (QI) projects
Provides oversight to other personnel and acts as a Safety Mentor
Completes special projects or complex task assignments
Ability to meet attendance requirements
Performs other job-related duties as assigned
Required Qualifications
High School Grad / GED
Experience: 5+ years
Post-Offer Functional Capacity Eval
Valid Driver's License (NON CDL)
Ability to climb a wind turbine up to 300 feet
Preferred Qualifications
Bachelor's Degree
Six Sigma Yellow Belt Certified
The base pay for this position is $72,000.00 to $108,000.00 per year. This range is estimated for this role. Actual pay may be different.
