Syracuse University Postdoctoral Researcher - Marine Acoustics in Syracuse, New York

The Bioacoustics and Behavioral Ecology Lab, led by Dr. Susan Parks in the Department of Biology in the College of Arts and Sciences at Syracuse University, seeks an experienced and highly motivated Postdoctoral Researcher to join the team. The lab focuses on studying the ecology and evolution of acoustic signaling in marine systems. The ideal candidate will have prior experience in passive acoustic monitoring and/or acoustic signal processing, with a preference for candidates with experience in the deployment and recovery of marine acoustic recording systems. Specifically, the Postdoctoral Researcher will use these skills to assist in the collection and analysis of acoustic data to detect the acoustic presence of North Atlantic right whales from 6 monitoring sites in the NY/NJ Bight region to provide baseline information on seasonal and spatial distribution to aid in the conservation of this species. The Postdoctoral Researcher will be mentored in developing an independent research program to provide the foundation for future independent research careers.
