AWS builds cloud-based and on-premises video encoding, origin, packaging, and management solutions for Live and Video-On-Demand workflows for customers worldwide. These solutions are integrated into larger AWS or other workflows. The specialist AWS Solutions Architect is an expert in building architectures to support video processing, monetization and delivery workflows. In this role the Solutions Architect is expected to work with AWS Specialists, Account managers SAs, and partners in optimizing customer workflows.

We are looking for a Specialist Solutions Architect to guide customers through this disruptive shift to cloud based video processing and delivery, utilizing best of breed AWS services as well as partner solutions.

In this position, you will engage with strategic sales opportunities to help define and design new innovative solutions for customers working closely with Product and Service teams, M&E Architects, Partners and Account teams. You will align closely with customer development, ops and management to understand customer goals and challenges in delivering their streaming video services in a timely efficient manner.

Key job responsibilities

  • Ensure customer success in building architectures to support video processing and delivery workflows.

  • Act as the primary technical interface for customer evaluations and provide responsive and knowledgeable pre-sales support.

  • Work to design and integrate our products and services into both new and legacy video workflows for our customers

  • Conduct one-to-few and one-to-many training sessions to transfer knowledge to customers, partners and system integrators on best practices.

  • Capture and share best-practice knowledge amongst the AWS solutions architect community

  • Author or otherwise contribute to AWS customer-facing publications such as whitepapers and blog posts.

  • Communicate customer feedback to Product Management and the Services team (feature requests, market trends, etc.).

  • Work closely with the Service Engineering teams to verify technical requirements for customer-requested features and defect fixes.

  • Support and preparation for major tier-1 events of high visibility. Working with AWS Support and customer teams to ensure successful events for the customer.

  • Evaluation of video delivery performance and encoding quality and supporting the customer with optimization.

  • Working with service teams to scope and support the development of new functionality to support customer workflows.

Basic Qualifications

    • Extensive experience designing and building highly available, scalable and resilient Live and VOD OTT streaming workflows (4+ years)
    • Experience using Content Delivery Networks to scale the delivery of content to large scale audiences
    • Experience optimizing user quality of experience across a wide range of playback devices in Live and VOD OTT Streaming workflows
    • Experience identifying, diagnosing and resolving issues in Live and VOD OTT streaming workflows with server side ad insertion
    • Experience defining Live and VOD encoding profiles to align with business objectives. This requires a working knowledge of common industry audio (e.g. AAC, AC3, EAC3) and video (e.g. AVC, HEVC, AV1) codecs and the pros/cons impacting their use in OTT workflows.
    • Experience with on-premise and/or cloud encoding and the common industry video formats used for contribution
    • Demonstrated experience proactively identifying and addressing risks within Live and VOD OTT streaming architectures
    • Strong communications skills and ability to build strong working relationships with customers
    • Experience with cloud-based services (S3, EC2, Cloudfront, etc.) or AWS SA
    • 3-5 years’ experience with Linux operating systems
    • Occasional international travel required (4-5 per year)

Preferred Qualifications

    • Experience designing and building Live and/or VOD workflows implementing personalized ad-insertion. Experience with 3rd Party ad decision server and programmatic advertsing is preferred
    • Experience with cloud-based services (S3, EC2, CloudFront, etc.) or AWS SA Professional certification strongly preferred
    • Experience working with broadcast, distribution, or content creation customers and demonstrated in-depth knowledge of their requirements and workflows
    • 3-4 years’ experience using at least one Linux-based scripting language (e.g. Perl, Ruby, Bash, Python)
  • Familiarity with:

    • Personalized Ad insertion for Live and VOD OTT Workflows
    • OTT packaging (e.g. HLS, DASH, CMAF) and Digital Rights Management (DRM) and appreciation of how the range of target playback devices will impact packaging and DRM requirements
