The Senior Program Manager is responsible for leading and managing Innovation, New Product Development (NPD) and/or Market Expansion and Protection programs for the development of diagnostic tests in a molecular in-vitro diagnostic company with the objective to deliver projects, on time and within budget, that meet business objectives and customer needs.
This position is part of the Program Management Office (PMO) and will be located ON-SITE in Sunnyvale, CA. At Cepheid, our vision is to be the leading provider of seamlessly connected diagnostic solutions.
In this role, you will have the opportunity to:
Drive project management excellence through best practice methodologies, utilizing Danaher Business System (DBS). Ensure compliance with quality and regulatory requirements of IVD design control. Introduce and sustain tracking and reporting metrics that enable timely communication and meaningful interventions to keep projects teams on track with project deliverables/milestones. Identify the resources needed to achieve project goals through established resource capacity planning.
Execute the vision of long-term objectives and strategies for the targeting on time, on budget project delivery that meets business and customer needs. Communicate priorities balancing trade-offs between short-term and long-term aspirations. Pro-actively identify potential roadblocks and barriers and to program success and propose solutions or work arounds.
Utilize critical thinking to move strategy to action in a global environment.
Develop and cultivate strong relations with internal stakeholders. Maintain strong working partnerships with leadership team and resource managers.
Facilitate capability-building, culture change, and process improvements within PMO and across the R&D organization. Embed new practices into the way we think about product development. Support change management.
The essential requirements of the job include:
Bachelor’s Degree is required, Master’s preferred, in Science, Engineering and/or Business Administration
Prefer minimum of five years of experience leading product development in the medical device industry.
Possesses in-depth knowledge and experience in the molecular diagnostics industry.
Track record of success bringing products to commercialization in a regulated environment.
Ability to travel up to 20%
It would be a plus if you also possess previous experience in:
Danaher Business System (DBS) tools with Certified Practitioner status in VPM, PSP or DM

The salary range for this role is $133,000- $172,000. This is the range that we in good faith believe is the range of possible compensation for this role at the time of this posting. This range may be modified in the future. This job is also eligible for bonus/incentive pay. We offer comprehensive package of benefits including paid time off, medical/dental/vision insurance and 401(k) to eligible employees. Note: No amount of pay is considered to be wages or compensation until such amount is earned, vested, and determinable. The amount and availability of any bonus, commission, benefits, or any other form of compensation and benefits that are allocable to a particular employee remains in the Company's sole discretion unless and until paid and may be modified at the Company’s sole discretion, consistent with the law.
