Eaton Corporation Facilities Technician in Sumter, South Carolina

Eaton’s ES AMER ARS division is currently seeking a Facilities Technician. The core hours are Monday through Friday from 6:00 am - 2:30 pm. The rate for this position is $21.50 per hour. This position is also eligible for a variable incentive program. Please note the salary information shown above is a general guideline only. What you’ll do:

PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITY:

Perform facilities maintenance projects such as assembling, installing, and moving equipment, demolition and construction for facility changes, troubleshooting and repair of lighting, plumbing, ventilation, and security systems.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

• Implement solutions for unusual and non-routine challenges.

• Read and follow procedures and instructions.

• Identify and implement improvements to plant safety, sustainability, and efficiency.

• Ensure plant and projects comply with EHS requirements.

• Comply with all safety and industrial hygiene requirements, including proper use of personal protective equipment and operation of equipment in a safe and competent manner.

• Understand and meet all departmental safety objectives and goals.

• Keep work areas clean and organized per 5S standards.

• Troubleshoot and repair problems with lighting, plumbing, ventilation, security, and other systems.

• Repair or replace damaged racks, barriers, doors, walls, flooring, and equipment.

• Maintain standards for facility material conditions.

Qualifications:

BASIC QUALIFICATIONS:

• High school diploma or GED equivalent from an accredited institution.

• Minimum 1 year of manufacturing or operations experience.

• Must be legally authorized to work in the United States without company sponsorship.

• No relocation benefit is offered for this position. Only candidates residing within the immediate area of the Sumter facility (50 mile radius) will be considered for this position.

• Strong analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills.

• Proficient using basic hand tools and power tools.

• Ability to obtain and maintain qualification to operate forklifts, scissor lifts, and articulated lifts.

• Ability to obtain and maintain qualification for Lock-out/Tag-out, elevated work, confined space work, and hot work.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:

• Computer literate.

• Working knowledge of Lean concepts.

• Some experience assembly requiring drawings or diagrams.

Expected to work with some degree of independence and make decisions that affect the workgroup. Focus efforts on attaining assigned goals and objectives, which include meeting needs and expectations of internal and external customers.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS:

While performing the duties of this job the employee is regularly required to stand; walk; sit; reach at or above shoulder level; grip; and use hands to handle and feel. The employee is frequently required to walk; stoop; lift; carry; push; pull; and grip. The employee is frequently required to lift/carry up to 35 pounds. The employee is frequently required to push/pull up to or greater than 35 pounds. The vision requirements include far and close vision with depth perception and color discrimination. While performing the duties of this job the employee is regularly required to listen and to talk.

WORK ENVIRONMENT:

While performing the duties of this job the employee is regularly exposed to noise and frequently exposed to dust.
