Key Responsibilities:

  • Supervise Shipping Staff: Lead, train, and manage a team of shipping clerks, forklift operators, and other warehouse personnel. Ensure staff follow proper procedures and safety protocols.
  • Shipping Operations: Oversee the daily shipment process, ensuring orders are packed, labeled, and shipped accurately and in a timely manner.
  • Inventory Management: Track inventory levels and ensure that shipments align with inventory records. Coordinate with inventory management to prevent stock shortages or excess.
  • Coordinate with Other Departments: Work closely with the warehouse, customer service, and procurement teams to ensure proper documentation and smooth flow of goods.
  • Shipment Documentation: Ensure all shipping paperwork is completed correctly, including packing lists, bills of lading, and customs forms for international shipments.
  • Logistics Coordination: Monitor and manage shipping schedules, including selecting appropriate carriers, and resolving shipping-related issues.
  • Customer Satisfaction: Address customer complaints regarding shipping delays, damages, or other issues, and ensure customer satisfaction through effective resolution.
  • Compliance: Ensure compliance with safety standards, shipping regulations, and company policies. Maintain knowledge of changes in regulations related to shipping and customs.
  • Reporting: Maintain accurate records of shipping activity.
  • Process Improvement: Continuously evaluate and improve shipping processes to increase efficiency, reduce costs, and meet customer expectations.

Required Skills and Qualifications:

  • Experience: 3+ years in a shipping, logistics, or warehouse management role, with at least 1-2 years in a supervisory position.
  • Leadership: Proven ability to lead and motivate a team to achieve departmental goals.
  • Attention to Detail: Strong attention to detail to ensure shipments are correct and documentation is accurate.
  • Problem-Solving: Ability to resolve shipping issues, delays, and customer complaints effectively.
  • Communication: Strong verbal and written communication skills for interacting with team members, customers, and other departments.
  • Organizational Skills: Excellent organizational and time management skills, with the ability to prioritize tasks and meet deadlines.
  • Computer Skills: Proficiency in shipping software, inventory management systems, and Microsoft Office Suite.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Knowledge of International Shipping: Familiarity with international shipping processes and customs regulations.

Physical Requirements:

  • Ability to lift heavy packages (typically up to 50 pounds).
  • Ability to stand, walk, and move for extended periods.
  • Comfortable working in a warehouse or shipping environment.

Work Environment:

  • Typically works in a warehouse or shipping facility.
  • Requires regular interaction with shipping personnel and other departments.
  • Can involve working in a fast-paced, sometimes noisy environment.

Salary Range:

$22.00 - $25.00/hr depending upon experience and qualifications.
