Preferred Qualifications:

Experience with muscle stem cell and/or muscle fiber isolation and culture.

Experience with use of mice in skeletal muscle research.

Experience with flow cytometry.

Experience with confocal microscopy.

Experience with data analysis using coding packages such as R, Matlab, Python.

Brief Description of Duties:
Stony Brook University is seeking a Postdoctoral Associate to work in the research laboratory of
Dr. Dada Pisconti, a Principal Investigator in the Department of Biochemistry and Cell Biology.

The successful candidate will participate in a collaborative research project to determine the molecular mechanisms underlying the effects of the ever-changing muscle stem cell niche on muscle development and regeneration. The incumbent will conduct research and ensure that all experiments are appropriately conducted following the policies and procedures of Stony Brook University.

DUTIES:

Within the predetermined research scope and methodology, carry out experiments and other research activities following the research goals of the lab.

Collect and analyze data for reporting experimental results in scientific publications.

Assist with training of other lab members in specialized scientific techniques.

Participate in weekly lab meetings presenting research data.

Other duties as assigned, which may include attending and presenting research results at Scientific Conferences and Meetings.

Senior Postdoctoral Associate:

Required Qualifications: (as evidenced by an attached resume)

Doctoral Degree (or a foreign equivalent degree) in Cell Biology, Molecular Biology or a closely related field in hand by the start of the appointment. Three years of research experience. At least two years of graduate research experience in skeletal muscle regeneration. Experience in cell biology, molecular biology and biochemistry techniques. Demonstration of professional competence.

The incumbent will design and develop the research while ensuring that all experiments appropriately follow the policies and procedures of Stony Brook University. The incumbent will assist the Principal Investigator with the management of the lab and supervision of the lab employees and students.

DUTIES

Carry out independent and/or teach research in the field of Biochemistry and Structural Biology. Will design and develop the research experiments to achieve the research goals of Dr. Dada Pisconti laboratory.

Analyze and evaluate data, utilizing specialized techniques.

Manuscript writing for publications in scientific journals. Oral presentation during lab meetings. May attend conferences and seminars.

Lab management, including oversight/supervision of Undergraduate and/or Graduate students and research Technicians; provide training in various research methods.

Other duties as assigned.

The Research Foundation of SUNY is a private educational corporation. Employment is subject to the Research Foundation policies and procedures, sponsor guidelines and the availability of funding. FLSA Exempt position, not eligible for the overtime provisions of the FLSA. Minimum salary threshold must be met to maintain FLSA exemption.
