Advising(80%)
Maintain ongoing focus on student success, retention, outreach, and diversity.
Advise honors students from a variety of colleges and degree programs.
Evaluate student records and maintain advising records/files.
Perform administrative duties and special projects as assigned.
Refer advisees to appropriate campus resources.
Assist with and attend college events as assigned (some may be evenings or weekends).
Meet and advise prospective students and families.
Present to prospective students and families on campus tours.
Use electronic advising systems.
Use academic alert notifications to enhance interactions with students and instructors.
Update practices based on changes in university policies and procedures.
Communicate effectively and on a regular basis with advisees using various formats.
K-12 Outreach and Programming(20%)
Under the direction of the Dean, the new hire will help with K-12 outreach and programming. Specific assignments are to be determined, but could include:
Assisting with organizing and running the Oklahoma State Science and Engineering Fair (OSSEF)
Assisting with organizing and running the Junior Science and Humanities Symposium (JSHS) regional and/or national competitions
Assisting with organizing and running the Science Olympiad regional/invitational competitions
Other administrative duties as assigned
Normally 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m., except during peak advising and enrollment times and when special Honors College events are held during the evening and/or on weekends.
