The Executive Director- Hospice is responsible for the overall strategy of hospice services; responsible for the employment of qualified personnel; responsible for the provision of hospice services, directly, and the delegation to and coordination of hospice; responsible for establishing standards of care to comply with federal, state, and accreditation regulations and guidelines. The Executive Director, Hospice establishes, implements, and evaluates goals and objectives for hospice services that meet and promote the standards of quality and contribute to the total organization and hospice philosophy. Program ownership leader for Hospice who is responsible for building the program, and its integrations with the broader business, in terms of capability and competency. This role has oversight of Quality, Safety, People, Client Experience, Growth, and Financial performance. Responsible for growth of the program and referrals to partner programs, and act as a point person and leader of new opportunities (acquisitions, joint ventures, managed partnerships, etc.). Position Functions and Responsibilities Growth for the program focuses on different areas to achieve maximum growth potential- partners, healthcare providers, internal growth opportunities, and community. Work with all partners internal and external to drive growth in existing partner sites and with new high potential targets through action planning and participation in the sales process. Collaborate with marketing and act as a subject matter expert for the line of business in developing marketing strategies and advertisements, collateral, etc. Routinely work with recruitment to refine/update recruitment strategies, messaging, and activities to attract talent for the program. Identify and eliminate barriers to growth for the department (structural, quality, capacity, etc.). Ensures adequate and appropriate staffing and capacity management solutions. Act as a subject matter expert for their line of business in discussions around adopting new technology that will be used by their line of business and with the engineering team to help build the connection between the EMR used by the line of business and HealthCloud. Work with IT to optimize technology in use and identify/implement new technology. Work interdepartme tally to resolve process issues that result in poor experiences for employees/clients and ones that are inefficient or ineffective. Act as a representative of the line of business in VBC opportunity discussions and partnership formations (ex. bundles, SNF@Home, Hospital@Home). Establish programs aimed at appealing to payers and value-based arrangements (ex. disease management, advanced illness management, home-based palliative care). Establish and hardwire the 'Lifespark Way' of operating the line of business to ensure desired outcomes. This role is responsible for establishing the playbook, establishing best practice, and continually refining the program based on learnings and the evolving needs of clients. Responsible for ensuring appropriate staff development programs exist and are implemented, including orientation, in-service, continuing education, competency testing and quality assessment performance improvement. Ensures that appropriate service policies and procedures are developed and implemented to accomplish identified quality outcomes. Evaluates program, services and personnel using measurable outcomes and objectives through strategy deployment Continuously monitor and improve operational progress towards accomplishing operational and strategic goals. Ensures that structure and systems promote high quality care. Ensures collaboration with agencies and vendors for effective management of services. Ensures adherence to Lifespark Experience standards. Leads customer-service expectations including service-recovery activities; Understands Voice of Customer results and develops corrective action plans as needed. Summarizes and shares survey feedback with the team. Ensures appropriate data collection and regular, complete reports are received by the Governing Body. Regulatory Quality and Compliance Ensure organizational compliance with legal, regulatory and accreditation requirements. Directs the establishment of and participates in the quality management program. Assure that all business conduct is above the minimum standards required by law and will not condone any activities that achieve results through violation of the law, unethical business, or patient care practices. Establish monitoring programs to detect issues and non-compliance and establish corrective action plans where issues exist. Event Management Reporting Responsible for all event report sign-off, follow-up and management to ensure process and follow-up actions are in place. Follow Lifespark policies and procedures for reporting incidents to appropriate personnel. Overall Workplace Safety Assists with overall company safety initiatives and ensure that all reporting and documenting protocols are followed at site. Seeks opportunities to improve safety and working conditions and sends recommendations to the Lifespark safety committee. Financial Management- Manage key financial measures for the department, including direct and indirect expenses, revenue cycle measures, revenue recovery and write-offs. Manage forecasting activities and budget setting. Ensures compliance with staffing model and assures necessary adjustments to achieve outcomes. Monitors business operations to insure financial stability and scalability. Prevents and manages potential risks to the company including employee/client injuries, accounts receivables, and both internal and external complaints. Serve as role model for Lifespark expectations on workplace culture for courageous conversations, honesty and integrity, transparency, and good intentions. Retention/Personnel Management: Directly supervises Hospice Administrator and other program-level staff. Ensures policies, procedures, and best practices are implemented.
