Monroe 2-Orleans BOCES SE-INSTRUCTIONAL SPECIALIST - Complex Needs & NYSAA, 10 months/yr. plus summer days in Spencerport, New York
The Complex Needs/NYSSA Instructional Specialist will provide targeted instructional support and coaching to staff in the area of Complex Needs and NYSAA instruction.
Schedule: 10 Months, plus summer days.
TYPICAL DUTIES:
Act as instructional coach (relative to Complex Needs/NYSSA instruction).
Make ongoing classroom visitations with respect to assisting staff with lesson planning/instructional materials and strategies, assessment- (formative and summative).
Assist staff to gain knowledge of students and individual IEP programs with regards to the NYSAA standards and testing accommodations.
Impart knowledge in staff by providing professional development on the state standards and alignment to the essential elements.
Support Specially Designed Instruction for NYSAA classrooms.
Explain and utilize Dynamic learning maps with teachers and help them understand how to implement learning experiences for students.
Understand, educate, and utilize KITE student online portal.
Testing coordinator for NYSAA.
Curriculum writing for NYSAA.
Provide consultation to teachers on the design and delivery of classroom-based interventions for students with significant disabilities.
Consistent, ongoing, and open communication with teachers, Related Service staff, and administration, and others to support the needs of students with complex needs, including those that participate in NYSAA..
Perform other related duties as assigned by the Assistant Director.
Job Qualifications
Experience: Minimum of 5 years teaching experience.
Education: New York State Certification in Special Education.
