We are seeking a dedicated Medical Assistant to join our team. The ideal candidate will utilize Medent as an Electronic Medical Record (EMR) system, update and maintain accurate patient medical histories and records, provide patients with information on treatments, medications, and post-procedure care, and work closely with healthcare providers to ensure smooth patient flow and efficient office operations.
Responsibilities
Assist with patient examinations, take vital signs, and prepare patients for procedures.
Log medications, reconcile with pharmacy for medications, and update computer systems for MRI, CAT scan, and other requests.
Complete return to gym and sports notes, place scripts in EMR, and call facilities for STATs.
Prep patient charts ahead of scheduled appointments and confirm any missing forms.
Handle calls for scheduling and rescheduling appointments, and support the call center if needed.
Support fax machine operations between offices and ensure files are added to patient records.
Schedule appointments with patients face-to-face after their previous appointment.
Verify patient insurance coverage and collect copayments.
Maintain and update patient records, ensuring confidentiality and accuracy.
Process insurance claims, create invoices, and manage patient billing.
Essential Skills
Experience with EMR systems (Medent preferred).
Previous Medical Assistant experience.
Knowledge of medical assisting procedures and patient care.
Strong understanding of insurance processes.
Additional Skills & Qualifications
Certification as a Medical Assistant preferred but not required (outdated/expired certifications accepted).
Experience in handling insurance claims and patient billing.
Work Environment
This role operates within a dynamic and supportive environment. Shifts are Monday through Friday, 7:30 AM to 4:00 PM or 9:00 AM to 5:00 PM, with one evening shift per week scheduled from 12:00 PM to 8:00 PM. Shifts are planned in advance and announced on Wednesdays. Candidates will work one weekend around once a quarter based on staffing needs. This position covers multiple sites, including Randolph, Sparta, Hackettstown, Morristown, and Cedar Knolls, with a routine established for site coverage. The role requires 40 hours per week, and consultants must stay until the last patient leaves. Expect to interact face-to-face with 20-40 patients daily, depending on the provider's schedule. Pay and Benefits
The pay range for this position is $20.00 - $23.00/hr.
