BRIEF POSITION SUMMARY:
The Item Planning (IP) Specialist I is responsible for executing activities related to item data quality as it relates to Inventory Management solutions for MSC’s customers. Primary duties include, but are not limited to, receipt and review of data collection for confirmation of viable data detail, Item sourcing, quoting, creation, and item induction set up. Contract agreement confirmation and item set up related to contracts, validate, and confirm customer pricing, provide pricing to sales team for approval, generate the customer approvals and provide support to the IM Project Specialist team as it relates to item detail for the project and the configurator.
DUTIES and RESPONSIBILITIES:
Identifies items for Solutions customers as part of the program database build and provide all necessary descriptive information to establish new MSC part numbers to support the Solutions.
Maintains “single point” process to integrate catalog items, non-catalog items, special items in support of developing item plans for Solutions opportunities.
Works with suppliers to obtain item quotations to gather and archive descriptive information required for all non-catalog, special and fabricated items.
Matches MSC items to customer tooling needs.
Formats tooling descriptions to MSC description standards.
Assists in creating item numbers for new part creation requests and vending solutions item databases.
Active communication with various teams and project representatives via email, phone, and chatter.
Review, update, process, generate and submit the appropriate customer approval documents to support the project.
Track and maintain project processes through Sales force and the item planning process guidelines.
Assists in the daily maintenance of the team email box, queue, and communications.
Participates in special projects and performs additional duties as required.
Develop and submission of item cleaning detail for item data induction and maintenance.
Fosters the MSC Culture in the department and throughout the company to ensure unity of purpose and fulfillment of MSC’s mission.

EDUCATION and EXPERIENCE:
o High school diploma or the equivalent is required.
o Associates degree or equivalent preferred.
o Minimum of two years Industry experience required.
o Strong knowledge of metal-cutting tooling preferred
o Inventory management solutions experience preferred
SKILLS:
o Intermediate level working knowledge of Microsoft Excel required.
o MSC applicable computer systems and assigned software knowledge required.
o Knowledge of the industry with diverse product offering, and manufacturers required.
o Excellent time management skills are required.
o Strong problem-solving skills are required.
o Must be a self-starter and able to multi-task proficiently.
o Must be able to work cross functionally among multiple departments (Sales/Operational)
o Excellent verbal and written communication skills required.
OTHER REQUIREMENTS:
This position may require access to International Traffic in Arms Regulations Information (“ITAR”) and/or Controlled Unclassified Information (“CUI”).
Compensation starting at $20 – $29 / hour dependent on candidate location and experience.
The salary range represented is based on similar roles in comparable industries, and the cost of labor in respective cities. Actual compensation is based on the candidate’s relevant experience, education requirements and peer pay equity. The Company reserves the right to modify the range as market conditions change.
